What a Mumbai to Hyderabad move costs
A quote on this route comes from your inventory and the access at both addresses, so a BHK label is only a starting point. The table gives a budget for a flexible or shared arrangement with basic packing, loading, transport and unloading as agreed. A vehicle booked for your goods alone gets a separate quote on the same inventory.
| Move size | Indicative budget range | What it usually involves |
|---|---|---|
| Few items | ₹6,500 – ₹13,500 | Cartons, a mattress or one or two pieces of furniture |
| 1BHK | ₹15,500 – ₹28,500 | A bedroom set, a refrigerator, a washing machine and kitchen and clothing cartons |
| 2BHK | ₹20,500 – ₹40,500 | Two bedrooms, a living-room set, standard appliances and a full kitchen |
| 3BHK | ₹28,500 – ₹62,500 | Three bedrooms, larger furniture and a heavier carton load |
| 4BHK | ₹39,500 – ₹80,500 | A large inventory with several bulky pieces |
| Heavier or larger homes | Quoted individually | Assessed from the inventory and both properties |
The wide ranges for the larger homes reflect how much the inventory varies, such as the number of wardrobes, appliances and bulky pieces, and how the mode, the date and the access at each end change the transport and handling.
| Item | In the base quote | Becomes an extra when |
|---|---|---|
| Packing, loading, transport and unloading | Yes, as scoped from your inventory | The inventory or the scope changes after the quote |
| Furniture dismantling and reassembly | Where named in the scope | More pieces are added, or a piece needs a technician |
| Appliance technician work | Separate from the move | You ask the mover to arrange one |
| Tolls and parking | Stated in the quote either way | The quote shows them as extra, with an amount |
| Stairs, a long carry or a shuttle vehicle | Priced from the access details you give | The access turns out different on the day |
| Waiting, storage and redelivery | Only if you ask for them | Keys or access are delayed |
| GST | Quote states whether applicable tax is included | Shown separately where the price is tax-exclusive |
| Optional cover | Only if you want it | You choose it, with a declared value and the policy terms |
Mumbai to Hyderabad distance and delivery time
The road distance is about 700 to 800 km, depending on the pickup, the Hyderabad property and the corridor. A public navigation tool shows 707 km via NH65 and about 12 hours 49 minutes for a passenger car. That is a driving figure for a car, not a delivery time for a loaded vehicle that has to be packed, loaded and dispatched first.
A possible approach runs from Mumbai through Pune, Solapur, Omerga, Humnabad, Zaheerabad and Sangareddy, and then into Hyderabad. The carrier chooses the alignment and the way into the city, which depends on where the property is.
| What is being measured | Planning figure | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Passenger navigation | About 12 hours 49 minutes | A navigation reference before packing, loading, operating breaks and delivery arrangements |
| Dedicated vehicle | About 2–3 days after dispatch | Road transit after packing, loading and departure |
| Shared load | About 3–5 days from pickup | Includes the time to bring the shared load together |
| Car or bike carrier | About 3–5 days after pickup | A separate shipment with its own dates |
| Receiving appointment | Agreed with your receiver | An unloading appointment coordinated with the vehicle’s arrival |
Confirm the actual window for your dates before booking. The packing and loading day comes before dispatch, and the receiving appointment is a separate agreement from the road time.
Shared load or dedicated vehicle
The mode is the biggest choice after the size of the move. Ask which one a quote assumes, and get the dates that go with it in writing.
| Point | Shared load | Dedicated vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Suits | A small inventory with a flexible date | A full home or a preference for a more direct departure arrangement |
| Price basis | The space your goods take up | A vehicle arranged for your goods alone |
| Days counted from | Pickup, about 3–5 days including consolidation | Dispatch, about 2–3 days after loading |
| Departure | When the shared load is ready | Agreed with you once loading is done |
| Handovers on the way | Ask whether goods change vehicles | Ask the same question and get it in writing |
| Hyderabad appointment | Follows the load | Can be agreed around your date and your building's slot |
Few items and bachelor loads
A few cartons, a mattress or a small furniture load suit a shared arrangement, at about ₹6,500 to ₹13,500 on this route. Send a list with rough sizes, number the cartons, and carry your laptop, ID documents and medicines yourself. Work back from the date you need your things, allowing the full 3 to 5 days.
Plan loading backwards from your first working day
Your joining date, Mumbai move-out deadline and Hyderabad possession date may all be different. Put those dates beside the goods delivery window before choosing loading day. A work-ready room needs more than a truck arrival: allow time for unloading, agreed desk assembly and your own equipment and internet checks.
| Arrangement | Example allowance | What the example means |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated vehicle | 1 day packing/loading + 3 days after dispatch + 1 day receiving + 2 days setup = 7 days | This assumes dispatch immediately after the loading allowance and uses the upper end of the indicative road window. Add time if dispatch, the lift slot or the connection appointment falls later. |
| Shared load | 5 days from pickup + 1 day receiving + 2 days setup = 8 days | The 5 days already include consolidation. Do not add a second consolidation period, but allow for a later receiving appointment where needed. |
| Car or bike carrier | Separate indicative 3–5 days after pickup | Confirm the vehicle handover point and plan how you will travel locally before it arrives. |
These examples are a way to work through your calendar, not recommended minimum booking notice or guaranteed elapsed times. Use the dates confirmed for your own shipment. If the old flat must be vacated before the new one is ready, compare later loading or named storage rather than assuming the vehicle can wait indefinitely.
Rain, busy dates and building access
If rain is expected at pickup, agree covered staging and protection during the carry to the vehicle. For a month-end, festival or weekend move, check actual crew availability, society lift hours and the receiver availability in Hyderabad. Ask about an alternative date and any price difference; do not assume a fixed delay or discount.
Pickup details that make loading smoother
Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai are different cities, so name the one you are loading from. What the loading day needs is a short description of the building, not an area name.
- The society and building, the wing or tower, and the floor.
- Whether there is a lift or goods lift, and how it is booked.
- Where a vehicle can stop, and how far the carry is from the door.
- The hours in which moving is allowed, as your society office tells you.
- The name and number of the person who will be present.
If you are moving from Thane or a Navi Mumbai node, include that full pickup address when requesting the price.
Giving a Hyderabad address a mover can use
Hyderabad is one city, but not one endpoint. Trucks from Mumbai on NH65 reach the city from the west, so a property on the west side and one on the east side have final legs of different lengths. The Outer Ring Road has many interchanges, and which one a vehicle uses depends on your property and is chosen by the carrier. Discuss the proposed approach and any toll treatment in your quote.
| Part of the city | Example localities | What to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Western destinations | Kondapur, Gachibowli, Kukatpally, Miyapur | The main road the vehicle leaves, the gate it uses, and where it can stop |
| Central | Banjara Hills, Ameerpet | The same points, with the length of the final leg across the city |
| Eastern destinations | Uppal, LB Nagar | The same points, and whether the longer final leg changes the quote |
For Secunderabad, also give the specific colony and property rather than relying on the city name.
An apartment
- The society name, the block or tower, the flat number and the floor.
- The gate the vehicle will use, and the lift or goods lift.
- The PIN of the property, and a gate pin or entry code sent privately.
An independent house or floor
- The road, the colony and the house number.
- Which floor is yours, and whether the stairs are shared or narrow.
- Whether the vehicle can stop outside the house.
Add a receiver's name and phone number to either one. Societies and buildings set their own rules for lifts, entry and moving hours, so ask the society office and keep the reply in writing.
Moving your workstation: a work-from-home setup plan
Keep workstation parts together on paper
Flat pieces become harder to recognise after their surfaces are covered. The wrapped panels in this photograph show why a dismantled desk needs more than one general furniture label.
If your Mumbai to Hyderabad move includes a workstation, photograph the desk before dismantling and link each panel and fittings bag to it on the inventory. Pack cables and small accessories with clear references. Keep laptops, important data and anything needed for immediate work under your own control.
Agree the assembly scope and check the component count at delivery. Allow time for your own equipment setup and testing before you promise a full working day.
If you work from a desk at home, or start a new job soon after you arrive, treat the workstation as its own small project. The aim is to keep essential work equipment accessible while the larger desk and household shipment travel to Hyderabad.
What travels with you
Carry your laptop, charger, headset, work phone and documents yourself, keeping login credentials private. If any equipment belongs to your employer, check with the owner or the IT team before it goes into a carton or a vehicle, and get their permission in writing where you can.
Photos, parts and labels
Photograph the desk setup before you take it apart, including the cable ports behind the monitor. Put screws, brackets and fittings in labelled bags and tape each bag to its piece. Tag cables by device, for example monitor or hub.
| Item | Packing record | New-home readiness |
|---|---|---|
| Laptop and charger | Travels with you | Charged, with a power point near the desk |
| Monitor | Original box or padded wrap, a photo of the setup and a note on its condition | Desk position and power point ready |
| Desk and chair | Dismantled parts in a labelled bag taped to the piece | Room agreed, and the scope of assembly agreed |
| Monitor arm or mount bracket | Bracket and screws in a labelled bag | Wall or desk fixing ready, and who does it decided |
| Cables, hub and power strip | Bagged and tagged by device | Outlets checked and working |
| Router and modem | Handled as the internet provider advises, or carried yourself | Connection booked with the provider |
Two-stage unpacking
Mark the work-corner cartons as a group and tell the crew where they belong in the new home. Ask whether they can be made accessible for early unpacking without disturbing safe load placement. Start with that corner, then work through the remaining rooms.
Furniture assembly, such as the desk, can be part of the move if you agree it. The internet connection, the provider's technician, any electrician and data or network cabling are your arrangement, or your employer's IT team's, and are not part of the move.
A buffer for your joining date
A shared load can take 3 to 5 days from pickup, and a dedicated vehicle 2 to 3 days after dispatch. Leave a couple of working days between the expected arrival and the day you need to be online, and plan a temporary desk and a way to work from your laptop in the meantime. Ask your employer about remote or flexible days.
House shifting from Mumbai to Hyderabad: packing, loading and placement
Start with the pieces that are hardest to handle: a wardrobe that may need dismantling, a glass dining top, a large screen or an appliance that will not fit the lift. Show them during the inventory assessment, alongside both buildings’ access details. Agree the required wrapping, dismantling and handling before the packing day.
Room-wise packing and the inventory
Use cushioning between breakables, firm cartons for heavier small items, and covers with padding for upholstered pieces. Screens need support over the display and corners. Label each package with its room and inventory number. For cartons you pack yourself, retain a contents list and identify fragile contents so the crew can handle the sealed package appropriately.
Furniture and appliance preparation
Keep bed and wardrobe fittings with labelled parts bags and agree the reassembly list. Follow each appliance’s transport manual, including draining, drying or fitting transit bolts where the model requires them. Arrange qualified technicians for electrical disconnection or installation. Keep the manuals and removable transport parts easy to find after delivery.
From the loading point to your new rooms
The carry, staircase turns and lift capacity at both addresses affect handling. At the Hyderabad home, identify the destination rooms before unloading begins and leave a clear route through the flat. Check the inventory count and visible condition with the crew, then record any concern on the delivery paperwork. Unpacking and furniture assembly follow the services booked.
Items to sort before the packing day
Keep gas cylinders, fuel cans, fireworks, thinner and other hazardous products out of household cartons. Discuss batteries and any doubtful product with the carrier before booking rather than leaving the decision until loading. Ask your gas distributor about the connection-transfer process and any equipment return; arrange piped-gas closure with the provider if relevant.
Pets need their own travel arrangement. Discuss plants before including them, and avoid perishables or leaking food containers. Cash, jewellery, original documents, medicines and your work laptop should remain under your own control rather than inside the furniture shipment.
Should you move the old furniture or replace it in Hyderabad?
Ask for two estimates on the same date, mode, packing scope and access: one with the doubtful item group and one without. The difference is what removing that group saves. Compare it with the price of a suitable replacement delivered and assembled in Hyderabad, minus a resale offer you actually have in Mumbai.
| Item | Check before deciding | Include in the comparison |
|---|---|---|
| A desk or wardrobe | Room dimensions, lift or stair fit, joints, condition and whether it can be dismantled again | Dismantling, protected transport, reassembly and the cost of a replacement that fits |
| Fridge or washing machine | Working condition, new-home space and the model transport instructions | Moving and technician costs where needed, replacement delivery and removal of the old appliance |
| Mattress or upholstered furniture | Condition, size, protection during loading and usefulness in the new room | Space in the shipment and the delivered cost of a comparable replacement |
| Workstation equipment | Ownership, condition and the equipment needed immediately for work | Employer permission where applicable and the temporary setup needed while the desk travels |
Price is one part of the decision. Fit, sentimental value, repair needs and replacement waiting time may matter more than a small saving. Savings from removing separate pieces may not add up because the vehicle requirement can stay the same. Finalise any sale before confirming the inventory.
Moving physical office goods
A compact office of around 6–8 workstations, chairs, computers, a few cabinets and file cartons can use ₹25,500–₹45,500 as an initial relocation budget. Send the actual inventory and access details for an estimate; a large meeting table, additional equipment or a difficult loading bay can change the scope.
Keep assets traceable
Allocate an asset reference to equipment and a destination department or room to each carton. The person releasing goods in Mumbai and the authorised receiver in Hyderabad should work from the same list. Keep confidential material under your organisation’s own access controls.
Coordinate goods-lift hours with the building manager and plan work around the agreed delivery window. Your IT team handles backups, decommissioning and reconnection. Commercial stock, specialist machinery and a larger office need their own assessment.
Car and bike transport
The carrier, the model, the packing and the handover points all affect these figures.
| Vehicle | Indicative range |
|---|---|
| Hatchback | ₹8,500 – ₹12,500 |
| Sedan | ₹10,500 – ₹15,500 |
| SUV | ₹12,500 – ₹18,500 |
| Bike | ₹4,500 – ₹7,500 |
| Heavy or premium bike | ₹6,000 – ₹9,500 |
A carrier takes about 3 to 5 days after pickup, on its own dates separate from your household goods. Ask what type of carrier is used, and where in Hyderabad the vehicle is handed over, since that point may not be your gate.
Handover checks
- Photograph all sides of the vehicle, the odometer reading and any existing marks, and keep a signed copy of the condition form.
- Note the fuel level and the keys handed over, and follow the carrier's instructions.
- Remove personal items and loose accessories.
- At delivery, compare the vehicle with the form and your photos before you sign.
Keep the registration certificate, your ID and a copy of the insurance ready.
Vehicle formalities when settling in Telangana
Transporting a car or bike does not complete its registration or road-tax formalities. Before leaving Maharashtra, check the current requirements with the relevant registering authorities, including whether an NOC, lender consent or additional documents apply to your vehicle and intended stay. Keep those papers accessible; do not treat an online transit estimate as advice about a tax or registration deadline.
Storage and cover before the journey
If the new home’s keys or fit-out date remain uncertain, compare changing pickup with arranging storage. Request the full storage arrangement: location, inventory receipt, access terms, duration and later delivery. Handling and redelivery can matter as much as the rental amount, so have them priced together.
Optional insurance should be arranged before the journey it is intended to cover. Review the insured values, cover period, exclusions and reporting procedure in the issued policy. Keep pre-move photographs, the inventory and delivery paperwork. Report a problem promptly in writing to the mover and, where covered, the insurer; the policy determines the claim response.
Preparing for the move
Before you book
- Write your inventory room by room, and mark the bulky pieces and the workstation.
- Fix the Hyderabad property details, the mode and the dates.
- Ask your society office about lift booking and moving hours.
Before the loading day
- Prepare appliances as their manuals say, and pack and number your own cartons.
- Photograph and bag the parts of your desk and monitor setup.
- Set aside documents, medicines, valuables, laptop and a first-night bag.
On arrival
- Have the receiver and the keys ready, and name the rooms.
- Count against the inventory, check large pieces, and note exceptions before you sign.
- Arrange the internet connection and any electrician yourself, in advance.
Common mistakes
- Giving a locality name as the full Hyderabad address.
- Reading a 12 hour 49 minute navigation time as the delivery time.
- Choosing a shared load for a fixed start date.
- Packing company equipment without checking with the owner.
- Expecting a mover to arrange the internet connection.
- Signing a clean receipt before the count.
Close the Mumbai flat without losing the move records
Check your rental agreement for notice and handover steps, and ask the society office about advance intimation, a gate pass and any owner clearance it requires. Agree the empty-flat inspection, keep relevant meter readings and photographs, and confirm how keys and any deposit will be settled with the owner.
Carry copies of the quotation, signed inventory, consignment note and payment receipts yourself. If an employer is paying, ask HR for the required invoice name and documents before packing. Business-owned equipment or stock may need different transport paperwork from personal effects; have the owner or accounts team confirm what applies.
Vehicle hire, a marketplace or a direct moving quote?
Offers shown together in search can describe different work. Compare the actual service and the business accepting responsibility before comparing the headline price.
- Vehicle-only: ask whether packing, loading, unloading, tolls and waiting are included or need separate arrangements at both addresses.
- Listing or marketplace: identify the business doing the move and the contact responsible for the inventory, payment receipts and delivery issues. A listing alone does not define the job.
- Direct mover: check the same details in the estimate: inventory, transport mode, packing and assembly, both access points and the agreed window. Direct booking does not remove the need to compare scope.
A local Mumbai shifting figure or an unscoped starting price is not a complete Mumbai–Hyderabad estimate. Have the quote name your actual Thane, Navi Mumbai or Mumbai pickup and your Hyderabad property so the final carry and unloading work are visible.
Choosing a mover and the terms to agree
Compare the scope before the price. Check that two quotes assume the same inventory, mode, access and packing, and that both name your Hyderabad property. Ask how the count is done at handover, and whether the business details on the quote match the registration the business publishes.
Questions about money and dates
Ask what confirms a booking, and whether any advance is taken against a receipt. Ask when further payments fall due and what each one covers. Find out what happens if you have to change the date, and what happens if the mover cannot dispatch on the agreed day. Terms differ between movers, so get the answers in writing.
Why deal with ALPM directly
ALPM handles the enquiry directly. Share your room-wise list, special pieces and building access so we can set out an itemised scope with the transport arrangement and delivery window. The agreed inventory gives you and the receiving crew one reference for the handover.
