What a Mumbai to Dehradun move costs
As a rough budget, a 2BHK from Mumbai to Dehradun is about ₹30,000 to ₹42,000, and a 1BHK about ₹23,000 to ₹33,000. Use these indicative ranges to plan your budget. The final quote depends on your inventory, both addresses and how the last stretch in Dehradun is handled.
| Move size | Indicative budget range | What it assumes |
|---|---|---|
| Few items | ₹10,500 – ₹17,500 | Cartons, a mattress or a small piece of furniture |
| 1BHK | ₹23,000 – ₹33,000 | Bedroom furniture, a refrigerator, a washing machine and kitchen and clothing cartons |
| 2BHK | ₹30,000 – ₹42,000 | Two bedrooms, a living-room set, standard appliances and a full kitchen |
| 3BHK | ₹38,000 – ₹53,500 | Three bedrooms, larger furniture and a heavier carton load |
| 4BHK | ₹48,500 – ₹67,500 | A large inventory with several bulky pieces |
| Heavier or villa-size | Quoted individually | Assessed from the inventory and property access |
What moves the figure
The ranges cover ordinary inventory with basic packing, loading, transport and unloading, as scoped. Whether your goods share space with other loads or ride in a vehicle arranged for you alone, the access at both ends, the packing materials and the dates can all change a quote. No BHK label is tied to a particular truck. If you want a dedicated vehicle for your goods alone, ask for it as a separate quote.
Lines to confirm in the quote
| Line | Ask the quote to state |
|---|---|
| The last stretch in Dehradun | Whether the vehicle comes to the property, a local transfer is used, or goods are carried from an agreed point, and who handles it |
| Furniture dismantling and reassembly | Which pieces, and who does the work at each end |
| Appliance technician work | Who disconnects and reinstalls each appliance, with the work and charges listed |
| Tolls and parking | Included or extra for each, and the amount if extra |
| Stairs, long carry or a shuttle | The floor, the lift, and any charge at either address |
| Waiting, storage and redelivery | Whether any are in scope, and how each is charged |
| GST | Included or extra, as applicable, and how the invoice is issued |
| Optional cover | Offered or not, the declared value and the policy terms |
Lower the cost by changing the work, not hiding items
Before comparing estimates, remove belongings you will not use in the new home and decide which soft goods you can pack yourself. Ask the mover to price that final list consistently. Include loft contents and storage-bed cartons from the start; leaving them out can give you the wrong space allocation. Compare a flexible shared-load plan with a dedicated quotation when both fit your dates.
Pickup in Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai: settle the loading path
The loading end deserves the same attention as your Dehradun gate. For a high-rise in Powai, identify the permitted lift and reserve its slot. For a walk-up in Dadar, tell the mover the floor, stairs and distance to the place where a vehicle can stand. A Thane or Navi Mumbai pickup also needs the actual building address, not just the suburb.
- Ask the society office what move-out permission it requires and the hours it permits on your chosen day.
- Check whether the largest furniture pieces fit the lift or need dismantling and a stair carry.
- Share a gate photo and loading-point details, including any local tempo transfer before the main truck.
- Tell security the moving date and authorising contact, and leave time for the landlord's inspection after the flat is empty.
Plan your own departure after that handover is arranged. A travel ticket to Dehradun does not reserve a Mumbai lift or provide someone to release the goods.
Dehradun city, district or Mussoorie: settle the endpoint first
Dehradun lies in the Doon valley, between the Shivalik hills to the south and the outer Himalayan scarp to the north. That means a Dehradun address is not automatically a hill climb. It also means the name covers more than one kind of place. The wider district has separately named towns, such as Doiwala and Vikasnagar, and Mussoorie is its own onward destination. A district name is not an address, and a city rate does not automatically apply to an onward town.
| Where you are going | What to write | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| A house or flat in Dehradun city | The colony, street, house or flat number, gate and PIN | The quote is for that address once the approach is known |
| Doiwala, Vikasnagar or another district town | The actual town, locality and house | It is a separate endpoint and is scoped on its own |
| Mussoorie, Rishikesh or another onward town | The actual place, road and house | It is an onward leg, so the endpoint is named in the quote and not priced as a city move |
If your destination is not in the city itself, say so in your first message and name the exact town. Ask the quotation to name the actual property and reflect its approach and handling requirements. If the endpoint changes, agree the revised work and cost before redirecting the vehicle.
Lane and gate photos: plan your Dehradun delivery
Before finalising delivery, ask your receiver for photos of the lane, gate and driveway. It is a short set of photos and notes, and it replaces guessing from a locality name. The receiver reports what is physically there, and the mover then checks whether a vehicle and equipment fit before one is allocated.
| Item | What the receiver sends | The decision it answers |
|---|---|---|
| The last road turn | A photo of the turn from the main road into your lane or colony | Whether a long-distance vehicle can make the turn |
| The gate from the road | A photo looking from the road toward the gate | Whether a vehicle can reach the gate or must stop short |
| The driveway or slope | Photos along its length, with a description in words, if there is one | Whether the vehicle can enter, or the goods are carried in |
| The safe stopping point | Where a vehicle could stand without blocking the lane | Whether the stopping point works with the agreed carry |
| The carry | The distance, the surface and the number of steps | The labour and the time |
| The building | The floor and whether there is a lift | Stairs, lift use and any extra handling |
Three arrangements for the last stretch
| Arrangement | When it may suit | Settle in writing |
|---|---|---|
| The long-distance vehicle comes to the property | The turn, the gate and the stopping point allow it | The receiving appointment and the receiver |
| An agreed local transfer | A smaller vehicle is needed for the last stretch | The handover point, who handles the transfer, who checks the inventory, the cost and the receiver |
| A carry from a safe agreed point | The vehicle can stop close, but not at the door | The point, the carry, the labour and who counts the goods |
None of these is automatic, and a local transfer is not part of every Dehradun move. If the approach is steep or uneven, discuss a daylight receiving slot and a safe way in with the receiver. The photos begin the assessment; the mover may need lane or gate measurements, vehicle details or a site check before confirming the arrangement.
Area labels and what to ask
| Area label | Ask the receiver for | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Rajpur Road or Jakhan | The actual colony and street, and the last turn from the main road | That the main road tells you the lane |
| Clement Town or Dharampur | The house or plot and the approach to it | That every address there is reached the same way |
| Dalanwala or Vasant Vihar | The gate, the floor and where a vehicle can stand | That a locality name is a stopping point |
| Prem Nagar | The colony entrance and the house | That access is the same across the area |
A named area is only a starting point, since access can differ from one lane to the next inside it. Use the actual lane and building details when confirming access with the receiver.
Distance, route and delivery time
Use about 1,550–1,750 km as a road-planning range. One city-to-city navigation alignment is approximately 1,582 km via NE4; the actual truck journey changes with the loading suburb, selected corridor and Dehradun endpoint. Packing and receiving coordination take additional time beyond a passenger-car route estimate.
A possible corridor uses approaches through Gujarat, Rajasthan and the Delhi region, then northern connections into Uttarakhand. NH48 or NE4 may form parts of it, but they are not the whole journey, and the chosen alignment can vary. The final northern approach also uses connections through Uttar Pradesh toward Uttarakhand. Confirm the selected alignment with the moving contact, and list tolls and other agreed route costs in the quotation.
| Stage | Planning estimate | What can change it |
|---|---|---|
| Loading day in Mumbai | Before dispatch, with a length that depends on the inventory | Building hours, the lift and the packing level |
| Dedicated vehicle on the road | About 4–6 days after dispatch | The alignment, traffic and weather |
| Shared load | About 6–9 days from pickup, including consolidation | How quickly the shared load fills |
| Car or bike carrier | About 5–8 days after pickup | Carrier availability and the handover points |
| Receiving in Dehradun | An appointment agreed with your receiver | The approach, any local transfer, light and weather |
Confirm an estimated receiving window for your actual dates. Consolidation means the time it takes to bring a shared load together before it departs. Rain or fog can affect the road and the unloading, so check the current forecast as your date gets close, and use the lane and gate details to choose a receiving slot with good light. Agree who will contact the receiver if road or weather conditions change the appointment.
Part load or dedicated vehicle
Part load
In a part load, your goods share a vehicle with other loads, and the price follows the space your goods take up. It suits a small inventory and a flexible date. Departure depends on when the load is ready, so work back from your date using the 6 to 9 day planning estimate, which includes consolidation. Ask whether your goods change vehicles on the way, and who calls you when the load reaches Dehradun. In a part load the Dehradun drop may be one of several, so agree the handover point using the lane and gate photos.
Dedicated vehicle
A dedicated vehicle is arranged for your goods alone. It suits a full home, bulky furniture or a fixed handover day. The dispatch date and the receiving appointment can be built around your plan and around the access your receiver confirms. Ask for it as a separate quote, with the dispatch date and receiving window in writing.
Few items and student moves
A student or a professional with only a few boxes can use a part load. As a budget guide, a few items cost about ₹10,500 to ₹17,500 on this route. Send a list with rough sizes. Label each carton with your name, phone number and a number, keep a count, and keep your laptop, ID documents and medicines with you. For a hostel, paying-guest room or rented house, give the full address, the floor and the name of the person who will receive the cartons.
Ask about usable vehicle space
For a truck or container, compare the packed load with the usable internal dimensions and carrying capacity. Include the largest packed piece as well as the carton count. The long-distance vehicle's capacity and its ability to reach your Dehradun property are separate questions. More load space does not solve a tight turn, and a smaller vehicle does not remove the need to plan the carry.
House shifting from Mumbai to Dehradun: scope and handover
A household quote is built from packing, loading, transport and unloading as scoped. The table shows who does what at each end.
| Task | In Mumbai | In Dehradun |
|---|---|---|
| Packing | Full or selected, with numbered cartons and a written inventory | A count against the inventory. Unpacking only as agreed |
| Furniture | Named pieces are dismantled. Wall-fixed units may need a carpenter | Reassembly as agreed, and by whom |
| Appliances | Prepared as each manual says. Where a model uses transit bolts, they go in before transport | Bolts removed before the machine is used, and stored for the next move. Air conditioners, geysers and chimneys normally need a technician |
| Loading and unloading | Within the building's allowed hours, from the vehicle's stopping point | As the last-stretch arrangement chosen: at the property, by transfer, or by carry |
| Kept by you | Documents, cash, jewellery, medicines, laptops and chargers | A bag for the first night |
Materials, in plain terms
- Breakables are wrapped one by one and packed in small strong cartons.
- Screens go in their original boxes if you kept them, otherwise in padded wrap.
- Sofas and mattresses get covers and padding.
- Wood and metal furniture get padding on the edges and corners.
Match the packing to the item: ask about screen support, glass protection, furniture edges and carton strength. Identify any owner-packed cartons and provide a contents list, then confirm how those packages are handled under the agreed scope and cover terms. Keep goods dry before wrapping and arrange suitable loading and receiving conditions.
Moving physical office goods to Dehradun
An office move begins with an asset list of desks, chairs, cabinets, files and packed equipment. As a budget guide, a small office on this route is about ₹32,500 to ₹59,500. That assumes roughly 8 to 10 workstations with chairs, computers moved as physical goods, and a few cabinets and cartons of files. A larger or industrial move is scoped separately.
Asset list and receiver
Make an asset list before packing, with a code for each item or carton and the position it is going to. Name an authorised receiver in Dehradun, with a backup, and count against the list when the goods arrive. For a commercial building, give the floor, the loading point and who confirms the working hours. If the building sits behind a narrow lane or a compound with a tight gate, send the access photos described above.
IT and exclusions
Arrange data backup, disconnection and recommissioning with your IT team around the hardware packing date. Keep critical records accessible during the journey while the relocation scope covers the agreed physical goods. Clinical equipment, hazardous materials and heavy industrial machinery are not part of the ordinary scope, and each needs a separate assessment.
Car and bike transport from Mumbai to Dehradun
Use the following indicative ranges for budgeting. Confirm the model, packing, carrier arrangement and pickup and delivery points before accepting a vehicle quotation.
| Vehicle | Indicative range |
|---|---|
| Hatchback | ₹14,500 – ₹22,500 |
| Sedan | ₹16,500 – ₹25,500 |
| SUV | ₹19,500 – ₹29,500 |
| Bike | ₹6,000 – ₹10,500 |
A premium or heavy bike is priced separately. A closed carrier and door delivery are not assumed. A carrier delivers at an agreed point, and that point may not be your gate, so use the access photos to choose a handover point where the vehicle can stop safely. As a planning window, a carrier takes about 5 to 8 days after pickup.
Handover record
- Photograph all sides of the vehicle, the odometer reading and any existing marks, and keep a signed copy of the form.
- Note the fuel level and the keys handed over, and follow the carrier's instructions.
- Remove personal items and loose accessories.
- At delivery, compare the vehicle with the form and your photos before you sign.
Keep the registration certificate, your ID and an insurance copy ready.
When the house or the approach is not ready
Things change while the goods are on the road. Agree what happens before dispatch, so it is not decided at the gate.
| Situation | Agree before dispatch |
|---|---|
| The Dehradun home is not ready | Whether the goods wait in storage or the date moves, with the storage location and the intake count |
| The keys arrive late | A named receiver, and whether the vehicle waits and how waiting is charged |
| The approach is harder than the record showed | A revised arrangement from the three above, in writing, with what changed |
| Rain or fog makes unloading unsafe | Whether the vehicle waits, the goods are stored, or the date moves |
If storage forms part of your plan, have the location, intake handling, rent and onward delivery listed in the quote. Cover, if you want it, is arranged as agreed and written under the insurer's own terms. What it pays depends on the policy, the declared value and its exclusions, and it is not assumed or mandatory.
Keep the signed inventory, the carton numbers, photos taken before loading, and the delivery receipt with any exception noted before you sign. If something is damaged, photograph it at once and write to the mover and, if a policy applies, to the insurer, checking the policy's time limit. A claim concerns goods that were actually moved, so the inventory should list what travelled. Keep original documents, cash and jewellery with you.
From enquiry to delivery
Send
- Both addresses in full, with the city, locality, house or flat number, floor and PIN.
- A room-wise inventory and your dates.
- The lane, gate and stopping-point details from your Dehradun receiver.
Settle
- The mode: part load or a dedicated vehicle.
- The last-stretch arrangement, and who handles it.
- The dispatch date, the receiving window and the lines in the table above.
- Any change of address, in writing, before the vehicle is redirected.
Prepare
- Appliances as their manuals say, and your own cartons packed and labelled.
- A bag with documents, medicines and the first-night essentials.
- A named receiver at each end, with a backup.
Receive
- Count the cartons against the inventory.
- Check the big pieces before you sign.
- Record any exception on the receipt.
Documents to keep
Keep the written quote, the signed inventory, the invoice or receipt, and any building permission needed at either end. For a vehicle, keep the registration certificate, your ID and an insurance copy.
Common mistakes
- Giving only Dehradun, or a locality, when the destination is an onward town.
- Assuming every address needs a smaller vehicle, or that none does.
- Quoting the last stretch without a photo of the last turn or the gate.
- Treating the part-load date as the dispatch date.
- Changing the Dehradun address without telling the mover.
- Signing a clean receipt before the count.
Employer reimbursement, booking amount and a date change
If your employer is paying, get its required invoice name, billing details and supporting-document list before booking. Keep the quotation, inventory, invoice and payment receipts together; reimbursement acceptance rests with the employer.
Ask the booking terms to state the advance, balance-payment stage and what happens if your Mumbai handover or Dehradun possession date changes. Confirm how a revised date affects vehicle availability, any reserved work and the amount already paid. Keep the agreed revision with the original booking rather than relying on a phone conversation alone.
An Andheri to Vasant Vihar plan using the lane and gate checks
This is a planning illustration, not a completed ALPM job or a fixed-price offer. Suppose a family is sending a 2 BHK inventory from Andheri to a Vasant Vihar house. The ₹30,000–₹42,000 guide above helps start the budget discussion, but it does not settle the transport mode or the final carry.
- List the goods: count room cartons and identify the sofa, beds, wardrobe panels and appliances separately. Mark what stays with the Mumbai landlord and what the Dehradun house already supplies.
- Check the destination: have the receiver photograph the last road turn, gate, stopping point and stairs. The proposed vehicle must be assessed against those details; a wide gate alone does not prove a long vehicle can turn into it.
- Price the workable arrangement: compare delivery by the main vehicle with an assessed local transfer or a carry from a permitted stopping point. Put the selected arrangement, handling and total in the quote.
- Align the dates: reserve the Mumbai lift and loading slot, then keep the estimated Dehradun receiving window separate. Dedicated transport is planned at 4–6 days after dispatch; a shared load at 6–9 days from pickup including consolidation.
- Keep the count through delivery: if a transfer is part of the plan, use the same numbered inventory before and after it, then check the final count and visible condition with the receiver.
If the family later changes from this house to an onward Mussoorie address, the old access assessment and city estimate need revision before the vehicle is redirected.
Comparing movers for this route, and what ALPM offers
Ask how the final approach was assessed
Compare quotations for the same load and the same Dehradun property. Ask whether the quoted vehicle is intended to reach the gate, where any transfer would happen, and who handles the unloading and carry. Check the dispatch and receiving windows alongside the price. Retain the written scope, company details and payment receipts.
Planning your move with ALPM
Share the room-wise inventory and the receiver’s approach photos during your enquiry. We use the goods and both-end access details to agree an itemised scope and transport arrangement. Confirm the estimated window and receiver before dispatch, and use the same inventory at loading and delivery so the handover count stays consistent.
