The figures below are indicative starting guides as of October 2026. They are starting points, not ceilings, and they are not all-in rates. A written estimate is built from your actual inventory, the access at both buildings and your date.
| Home size | Guide | What usually pushes it up |
|---|---|---|
| 1 BHK | From ₹15,500 | Extra furniture, a full kitchen, long carries |
| 2 BHK | From ₹20,500 | Heavy or fragile furniture, appliances, more cartons |
| 3 BHK | From ₹25,500 | Larger packing volume, several big wardrobes or beds |
| 4 BHK | ₹35,000–45,000 | Volume of furniture and cartons, access at either end |
| 1 RK or a few items | Quoted from inventory | No fixed starting price is set in advance |
They assume standard packed goods, normal access at both ends and, where it suits the goods, a shared or consolidated load. A dedicated vehicle with reserved capacity, a heavier load or a fixed delivery window is assessed separately and can sit above these figures. A single bed and five cartons can cost very differently from a studio's full contents, which is why a 1 RK or a few items is worked out from the inventory rather than from a headline number.
The base is the agreed packing, loading, road transport, unloading and assembly of items that were dismantled for the move. Anything outside that should appear as its own line, which the next section explains how to read.
Two quotes can look equal until you compare the detail. Ask for every line below to be marked as included, extra or not applicable, so nothing is discovered on moving day.
| Line | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Tax | Is it shown as its own line or already inside the figure? |
| Tolls and parking | Are they inside the price or added on actuals, and who pays any gate or society fee? |
| Stairs, long carry, shuttle | Is there an allowance, and what applies beyond it? Chennai and Bengaluru are assessed separately. |
| Crates and special packing | Which items need them, who supplies them and at what price per item? |
| Waiting time | Does waiting at either end carry a charge, and from what point? |
| Unpacking | Is opening cartons and putting contents away wanted, and is it quoted apart from unloading? |
| Technical work | AC, electrical or cabling work: who does it, and at what cost? |
| Storage | Is a holding period needed, and how is it priced? |
| Transit cover | Is any cover arranged, and what does it include and exclude? |
Unloading belongs to the base scope, so it should not show up a second time as an extra. Unloading means bringing the goods in and placing them. Unpacking cartons is a different task.
Plan on about 350 km between the two cities. Map apps show several drivable options from roughly 320 to 360 km, over different highway combinations, so the real figure moves with your exact pickup and delivery addresses and with the road the carrier approves. No single corridor is promised. A passenger-car time of around six and a half hours on a map is a travel clue, not a delivery time for a loaded truck.
| Load type | Planning estimate | Counted from and to | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated household vehicle | 1–2 days | Packing to delivery | Home size, packing volume, loading access, Bengaluru unloading slot |
| Shared load | 2–4 days | Pickup to delivery | How many consignments are combined and the order they unload |
These are planning estimates, not guarantees, and they start counting at different points. Before booking, ask which clock applies to you: the packing date, the pickup and consolidation date for a shared load, and the dispatch date, which should be written into the estimate.
Hours on the highway do not include loading in Chennai or carrying and placing goods in Bengaluru. Your own journey, your job start date or the truck reaching the road near your area does not mean the rooms are ready. Goods count as delivered once they are unloaded and placed. A one-day move is possible only when the reviewed load, departure time, traffic and receiving building all line up, and it is assessed for each move.
The road towards your Bengaluru home depends on the pickup, the vehicle and the approach the carrier selects. The roughly 350 km guide above covers different road options; it does not mean every truck enters Bengaluru from the same side.
One road option follows the Chennai–Vellore–Ambur–Krishnagiri corridor and continues towards Hosur and Attibele on the approach to southern Bengaluru. A delivery near Electronic City and a delivery in Whitefield or Hebbal still have different final city legs. Ask for the arrival window at your residential gate, rather than the time the truck is expected near Hosur.
Mapping also offers connections using NH75 and other roads. The carrier checks which road is suitable for the loaded vehicle and the actual delivery point. A passenger-car shortcut or expressway suggestion should not be treated as approval for every goods vehicle.
Allow for packing and loading in Chennai, the agreed road journey and then access to the Bengaluru building. Share the actual goods entrance and permitted loading or unloading hours. If the departure or arrival estimate changes, recheck the lift slot and receiver before the vehicle reaches the gate.
A 14 ft, 17 ft or 19 ft truck enquiry needs more than the BHK label. Body dimensions and load capacity vary, and padding takes space too. Ask the quote to identify the proposed vehicle and whether you are paying for shared space or reserved capacity.
| What you are moving | Choice to compare | Survey details |
|---|---|---|
| A few cartons, a mattress or selected appliances | Compare shared space and the minimum handling charge against the actual list. | Carton count, appliance sizes and whether packing and helpers are included. |
| A 1BHK or lightly furnished home | Compare part load with a vehicle reserved for your goods. | The fitted inventory, packed dimensions and how flexible your receiving date is. |
| A furnished 2BHK or 3BHK | Select usable capacity after the furniture and packing survey. | Beds and wardrobes to dismantle, sofa dimensions, fragile items and total carton volume. |
| A large home or bulky furniture | Check capacity, weight and the loading arrangement together. | Oversized pieces, lift and doorway measurements, and whether one vehicle is sufficient. |
For an enclosed body, check the condition of the roof and doors and the protection planned for furniture and cartons. Confirm the vehicle’s height and approach against both buildings. A bigger container may solve a capacity problem while creating an access problem, so settle both in the same survey.
A family home usually means beds, wardrobes, a sofa, a dining set, a fridge and a washing machine alongside the cartons. Furniture is covered and padded before loading, and pieces that will not clear a door or lift are assessed for approved dismantling and reassembly. Fixed carpentry or a piece that cannot be dismantled needs a separate handling decision. Ask for the list of pieces that will be taken apart, so reassembly is part of the written scope.
A student room, a single-person flat or a handful of pieces from a larger home often does not justify a whole vehicle. In a part load your goods share space with other consignments. That can suit flexible dates, but delivery depends on how loads are combined and the order they unload. If your building offers only one narrow slot, reserved capacity may make dispatch easier to coordinate, although it cannot override the building window. Part loads are priced from inventory, not from a fixed rate.
| Question | Shared or part load | Dedicated vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Best suited to | Few items or a full inventory when shared capacity and flexible dates suit | Full homes, fixed slots, heavier loads |
| Timing counted | Pickup to delivery | Packing to delivery |
| Delivery window | Depends on consolidation | Easier to plan, but reserved capacity is assessed separately |
| Price basis | Inventory | Inventory plus vehicle capacity |
Materials are matched to the item rather than applied the same way to everything. Books, kitchenware and clothes go into cartons. Glass, frames and screens get cushioning such as bubble wrap or foam, with clear fragile marking. Wooden and upholstered furniture is covered and padded. Crates are not a universal solution. They are considered for very delicate items after assessment and appear as their own priced line.
You can pack some boxes yourself. They travel as sealed cartons whose contents nobody has checked, so pack heavy items in small boxes, tape the base properly and label each one. Ask the estimate to state how self-packed boxes are treated if cover or a claim is ever involved.
Unloading brings cartons and furniture into the building and places them in the rooms you indicate. Unpacking opens cartons and puts the contents away. The base scope covers unloading. If you want unpacking, request it in the estimate so it is quoted as a separate task.
Follow the manufacturer's transit instructions: allow the specified refrigerator defrosting and drying time and arrange any required washing-machine transport restraints before packing. Removing and refitting an air conditioner, electrical work and cabling are qualified technical jobs. They are not bundled automatically and are not assumed to be available. Mention them when you ask for the quote, so availability and a separate price can be confirmed first.
Many Bengaluru apartments let goods in only during a booked lift slot, so the useful question is not when the truck leaves Chennai but when it must reach the gate. Work through these steps and write the numbers down.
| Step | Assumed figure | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Window closes | 4:00 pm Saturday | Unloading must finish by then |
| Unloading and reassembly allowance | 1.5 hours | Unloading starts by 2:30 pm |
| Carrier road ETA including stops | 8 hours | Truck leaves by 6:30 am |
| Packing and loading allowance | 3 hours | Packing and loading begin by 3:30 am |
| Chennai building allows loading from | 8:00 am | Does not fit |
This is an illustration, not a customer story or a quote. Every hour in the table is an assumption chosen to show the arithmetic, and your own figures will differ.
In that example, Saturday-morning loading cannot work. There are two sensible fixes: arrange Friday packing and loading, with the dispatch and any overnight custody agreed, or book another receiving slot in Bengaluru. Departure time is then set by the carrier. If any of the receiver, truck parking and gate access, or a lift slot that suits your furniture is missing, it is safer to hold the departure than to arrive at a closed gate.
If you must leave the Chennai home on a set date but the Bengaluru slot or flat is not ready, do not assume the truck will wait or that goods are held free of charge. Holding is assessed for each move. Before pickup, ask who operates the holding space and where it is, how goods are checked in with condition and carton IDs, whether you can access them, for how long, at what rate, and how redelivery is arranged and priced.
A friend or relative can stand in only if the society permits their entry, a lift is available to them and they can direct the crew to the right rooms and sign the handover. Without those, they are not a real backup.
Bengaluru is too broad a destination for a useful quote. Give the residential gate and block, not the employer's campus, because a campus does not tell the driver where to stop. Give the same level of detail for your Chennai address: gate, floor, lift and where the vehicle can stand.
| Area | Give the address as | Confirm before loading |
|---|---|---|
| Whitefield and Kadugodi | Society name, tower and the goods-gate pin, not a brochure or sales-office address | Goods-lift booking, move-in permission, whether a long truck enters or parks outside |
| Electronic City | Phase, block and the actual residence, not the job campus | Gate, lane and any security pass |
| HSR Layout and Marathahalli | Exact entry street, with parking photos | Whether a full-size vehicle reaches the entrance. Photos settle this better than assumptions about narrow lanes. A shuttle or longer carry is quoted separately. |
| Hebbal and Yelahanka | Society or house address with the gate pin | The approach depends on the road the carrier selects, so the ETA is carrier-specific and not tied to a fixed route |
Mention gate time limits, security passes and parking rules when you ask for the quote, so they are planned before loading begins.
Photos and dimensions help the team assess whether a piece moves whole or needs approved dismantling. Share a photo of the lift interior, the door opening and the capacity plate, plus your largest pieces with rough sizes, such as the wardrobe, sofa, bed or fridge. Do the same for the Chennai building. Anything that needs specialist dismantling should be approved in advance. Any lifting outside normal door, stair or lift access requires a separately assessed specialist plan and building permission. Stairs, floors without a lift and long carries are assessed at both ends and quoted separately.
For pickup from Porur, OMR, Velachery, Anna Nagar or Avadi, share the actual goods entrance, floor and permitted loading hours. Photograph the path from the parking point to the flat as well as the large furniture. A pickup time that fits the road journey still has to fit the Chennai building rules.
These examples show the details that help with different pickup and delivery combinations. They are planning prompts, not fixed routes or a promise that one destination always unloads earlier.
| Chennai pickup | Bengaluru delivery | Plan before booking |
|---|---|---|
| OMR, Sholinganallur or Siruseri | Whitefield, Brookefield or Kadugodi | Give the actual residence and goods gate at each end; an office-campus landmark is not the unloading address. |
| Tambaram, Chromepet or Pallavaram | Electronic City or Bommasandra | Give the phase, block and receiving entrance. Set the slot from the carrier’s selected road and departure time. |
| Velachery or Medavakkam | HSR Layout, Bellandur or Sarjapur Road | Send photos of both entrances and the vehicle stopping points, with the final street and apartment name. |
| Anna Nagar, Ambattur or Avadi | Hebbal, Yelahanka or Thanisandra | Include the final north-Bengaluru approach in the carrier’s arrival estimate before reserving a lift. |
| Porur, Valasaravakkam or Mogappair | Marathahalli or Kundalahalli | Check the distance from each stopping point to the door and the largest furniture’s path through the building. |
A job transfer, school start or fixed housewarming date can make the receiving day less flexible. Share that date early, then check that packing, dispatch, unloading and essential assembly all fit. For a small room or selected furniture, compare shared space against the same complete handling scope.
These cartons are close to the doorway, ready to be identified as a group. For a Chennai to Bangalore move, the useful question is which boxes you will want first when you finally get the keys.
Use clear destination-room labels, then add a short priority mark to the few cartons needed on arrival. Bedding and everyday kitchen items should be easy to find without opening every box. Keep medicines, documents and your own overnight bag with you.
Tell the receiving person what the priority mark means. Ask whether those cartons can be positioned for convenient unloading, subject to the vehicle's safe loading arrangement.
Decide what you need first before packing starts, and label cartons so the crew can plan around it.
Tell the crew which rooms matter first. Loading is built stable, with heavy pieces low, so priority cartons are planned to come off early without compromising the load. Keep valuables, medicines, documents, chargers and your work laptop in a personal bag that stays with you.
| Scope | Planning guide |
|---|---|
| 6–8 desks, chairs, computers, a few cabinets and files, physical goods only | ₹21,000–30,000 |
This is a planning guide for a small office, confirmed after the inventory and both offices are reviewed.
It covers physical goods: desks, chairs, packed computer hardware, cabinets and files. Files should travel in sealed, numbered cartons grouped by desk or department, so the Bengaluru team can unpack in order.
Data backup, disconnecting equipment and reconnecting the network are done by your own qualified IT provider. They are not part of the physical move.
Larger stock, machinery and anything that needs special handling are assessed separately and are not covered by the guide.
Ask the Bengaluru building about permitted unloading hours, goods-lift availability and any pass required for the crew. Decide what the new space needs on the first working day and label those cartons first.
| Vehicle | Guide |
|---|---|
| Bike | From ₹5,500 |
| Hatchback | ₹9,500–11,500 |
| Sedan | ₹10,000–14,000 |
| SUV | ₹12,000–18,000 |
These are guides, not fixed prices. Bike shifting and car transport are planned separately from the household load.
Closed-carrier transport is not assumed for every car. It depends on the vehicle model, the transport mode and the schedule, and is assessed on its own.
Photograph every side of the vehicle and note existing marks, odometer reading, key count and agreed accessories. Remove personal items and loose valuables. Give the keys with a copy of the registration papers. Fuel level and other preparation vary by vehicle and carrier, so follow the carrier's instructions together with the manufacturer's requirements.
The vehicle's pickup and delivery may differ in date or place from the household move. Plan who hands it over in Chennai and who receives it in Bengaluru, with ID if the carrier asks for it.
Ask the RTO about registration reassignment, any NOC and applicable tax requirements if you are relocating the vehicle for a longer stay. These formalities are separate from the transport booking. Keep the RC, valid insurance and the carrier’s requested documents ready, and follow vehicle-specific fuel and battery preparation instructions.
Storage is not automatically part of a move. It is considered by assessment when your delivery date falls well after pickup. Before agreeing, ask these questions.
These starting guides do not assume any cover. If cover is arranged, ask to see the actual policy and confirm the following.
A carrier's liability and a cover policy are different things, and neither automatically means full compensation for every item.
Compare quotes on how they are built, not on the headline number. These questions separate a considered quote from a vague one.
A low number may describe a local move inside one city, a single room of items or a shared load. Check that the quote names Chennai to Bangalore, states the load type, lists the extras and shows the date it applies to.
ALPM is an independent packing and moving business, GST-registered under 36FDRPM0957B1ZC, and it is not connected with similarly named companies. It works from a photo or video inventory and an access review, gives an itemised written estimate and agrees the update contact and delivery window with you. At handover it reconciles outer carton IDs and visible condition. Its Chennai branch is in Senneerkuppam.
The advance amount, payment stages and any reschedule or cancellation terms should be written in the estimate before you pay. Ask what changes if you move the date, if the Bengaluru slot shifts or if the inventory grows after the estimate. A policy that is not written down should not be assumed. Short-notice moves depend on availability for your date and load, and the quote will say so.
October to December is Chennai’s northeast monsoon season. Check the forecast close to pickup, keep the goods dry before wrapping and arrange a protected path to the vehicle where possible. Agree an alternative loading time if heavy rain makes the work unsafe, and recheck the Bengaluru receiving slot if departure changes.
Ask early about the vehicle and lift slots when your date is fixed. If you can move on another day, request a like-for-like quote for both dates; availability and the payable total decide whether changing the day helps.
The checklist below already keeps gas cylinders and hazardous liquids out. Declare any chemical, battery, plant, liquid or other unusual item before packing so the carrier can confirm whether it accepts it and how it must be prepared. Carry valuables and essential documents yourself, and seal ordinary kitchen containers to avoid leaks.
Keep valuables, medicines, ID, rental or ownership papers, chargers and your work laptop with you. If a bike or car is moving, carry its registration papers and keys until handover.
Count cartons against the numbered outer IDs and note any visible damage on the handover record before you sign. The ID count tells you the cartons are present and how they look from outside. It does not prove what is inside sealed boxes. Open priority cartons soon and report any problem within the reporting terms agreed in your estimate.
