Packers and Movers Charges from Chennai to Madurai
The figures below are planning budgets for a shared household move from Chennai to Madurai, with normal packing and normal access at both addresses. Use them to plan a budget before a photo or video inventory review. The figure you are quoted comes from your actual inventory, not from the home size alone.
| Home size | Planning budget | What the figure assumes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 BHK | ₹16,500 to ₹22,500 | One bedroom, a compact living area, kitchen items and cartons |
| 2 BHK | ₹19,500 to ₹27,500 | Two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a standard set of appliances |
| 3 BHK | ₹22,500 to ₹32,500 | More furniture, heavier wardrobes and a larger carton count |
| 4 BHK | ₹38,500 to ₹65,500 | Larger-inventory band, assessed separately; the truck may need to be dedicated |
The 4 BHK row is an exception, not a scaled-up version of the rows above it. A larger inventory is checked for volume first, and the truck mode follows from that check rather than being assumed.
What moves a quote up or down
- Volume and weight: solid-wood beds, large wardrobes and a full set of appliances take more space and handling than the same rooms with light, flat-pack pieces.
- Who packs: crew-packed goods add materials and labour, while cartons you pack yourself change the packing line.
- Access: floors without a lift, a long walk from the truck to the door or a restricted loading slot add carrying effort at either end.
- Dates: dates that fit an existing shared consignment leave more room than a fixed date on a particular truck.
- Mode: a dedicated truck is priced for your goods alone, while a shared truck splits its space with other consignments.
Dedicated, Shared and Part-Load Timing After Dispatch
Delivery windows on this route are counted in days after dispatch, not from the day packing starts. Two things sit outside that count: packing, loading and any consolidation before dispatch, and the unloading appointment at Madurai once the vehicle arrives.
Dedicated truck: 1 to 2 days after dispatch
A dedicated truck carries only your goods, and its planning window is 1 to 2 days after dispatch. Dedicated gives closer control over the planned dispatch. That is not the same as a guaranteed delivery date, because roads, weather and the receiving slot still play a part.
Shared truck: 2 to 4 days after dispatch
A shared truck carries goods from more than one household or business, so its planning window is 2 to 4 days after dispatch. A full home can travel shared when truck capacity and dates fit. If they do not, the quote should say so and name the alternative.
Part load
Part load means your portion of a shared truck. It is not a third mode with a clock of its own, so it follows the shared window.
Reading the clock: a worked illustration
For illustration only: if a shared consignment dispatches on a Monday, plan for arrival somewhere between Wednesday and Friday, then provisionally coordinate a receiving slot and reconfirm it with the operator and building once the ETA narrows. Packing and loading happen before the Monday dispatch, so they are not part of those days.
Car and bike carriers run to a separate schedule, described in the vehicle section below.
Chennai to Madurai Distance and Road Route
Use about 460 km as a planning figure for Chennai to Madurai. Driving options reviewed were about 451, 491 and 494 km, using combinations of NH179B, NH38 and NH83; the actual doors and selected corridor decide your trip distance. The operator confirms a suitable route for the allocated vehicle rather than promising one highway or town for every load.
Driving hours and delivery days
The mapped passenger-car drive was roughly 7 to 9.5 hours. Goods transport also needs loading, dispatch arrangements, stops and an unloading appointment. Ask for the dispatch date and the separate receiving window rather than treating a car-driving estimate as a same-day household delivery commitment.
Madurai Street-to-Door Delivery: Direction, Street Family and Goods Entrance
On the Masi, Veli and Chithirai streets around the Madurai core, the street family and the direction together identify an address. North Masi is not North Veli, and East Masi is not West Masi. A booking that says only Masi Street, or only a nearby landmark, leaves a goods vehicle with several possible destinations.
Nobody should rely on a general decoder of which street is which. The receiver, who can see the real door, confirms the full street name, and that confirmation is what gets used.
Read-back before allocation
Before a vehicle is allocated, the receiver reads back one full address: direction, street family, full street name, door number, building, PIN, floor and the pin for the goods gate. That approved version is used unchanged on the itemised estimate, the inventory, the driver's sheet and the delivery sheet, so the same address travels with the goods from quote to unloading.
What you fill in
| Field | What to write |
|---|---|
| Direction | North, South, East or West, as the street is actually named |
| Street family | Masi, Veli, Chithirai or another street name |
| Full street name | The complete name, not a shortened form |
| Door, building, PIN and floor | As shown at the premises, with the floor counted the way the building counts it |
| Goods gate pin | The entrance that accepts goods, not the visitor or main-road entrance |
| Stop-to-door carry | Distance in metres from where the truck can stand to the door |
| Door and stair turns | Door widths, landings and turns that a wardrobe or sofa must pass |
| Goods lift | Cabin size, load capacity and whether a slot must be booked |
| Receiver | Name and number of the person present at unloading |
| Photos and check date | Photos of the gate, lane and lift, with the date they were checked |
Landmarks and visitor pins are not goods access
A landmark or a visitor map pin shows a driver the neighbourhood. It does not prove that goods can enter at that spot, where a truck may stop or whether a lift is available for furniture. Goods access is confirmed by the receiver in the fields above.
KK Nagar, Anna Nagar and other apartment addresses
Apartment complexes in these areas can have their own goods bay, lift timings and society rules. Record the actual bay, lift and permission process instead of applying an old-city assumption about narrow lanes or vehicle bans to a street where it may not apply.
When the booking label and the real entrance disagree
Take a hypothetical case: a booking says North Masi, but the actual goods entrance turns out to be on North Veli. This is resolved before loading, not at the door in Madurai. If only the label was wrong and the real door is unchanged, it is a clerical correction and does not by itself trigger a reroute fee. If the real door, the goods entrance or the scope of work changes, the change is assessed and agreed in writing before the goods are loaded.
Madurai Localities and Destinations Beyond the City
For Anna Nagar or KK Nagar, send the block or street, building, floor and goods entrance. For Tallakulam, SS Colony, Bypass Road, Thirunagar or Tirupparankundram, name the exact road and property rather than only the neighbourhood. Ask that property about vehicle standing, furniture access and permitted unloading hours.
A new apartment is not automatically accessible to every truck, and an older street does not automatically need a transfer. Use the photographs and measurements of your own entrance. The detailed Masi, Veli and Chithirai address check above is useful when those are the streets in your real delivery address.
If the destination is Dindigul, Theni or another town
Give the actual town and PIN when you enquire. Do not use the Madurai city budget or assume the vehicle must first travel through Madurai. The operator should assess the route, distance and receiving work for the destination itself. For a Dindigul address, use the Chennai to Dindigul moving guide to plan that separate journey.
What Your Chennai to Madurai Quote Should Spell Out
Two quotes for the same flat can differ materially because one lists a charge that the other leaves out. Ask for a quote that states the scope first and every extra line by line.
What the base figure covers
- Packing with the materials your inventory calls for
- Loading at the Chennai address
- Road transport to Madurai
- Unloading at the Madurai address
- Agreed assembly of dismantled furniture, once
Lines to mark one by one
Each line below should appear in the written quote as included, extra or not applicable. A blank line is a question, not an answer.
| Line | When it comes into play |
|---|---|
| Taxes | Shown apart from the base figure so totals can be compared |
| Optional transit cover | Only if you choose it, with the insurer's terms stated |
| Tolls | Road charges along the corridor the vehicle uses |
| Parking or entry charges | Society, complex or market entry fees at either address |
| Stairs | Floors carried where there is no usable lift |
| Long carry | A long walk between the truck's stopping point and the door |
| Wooden crates | Items assessed as needing a crate |
| Waiting time | Loading or unloading that cannot start at the agreed time |
| Holding | Goods that must wait because the receiver cannot take delivery |
| Transfer or rehandling | Goods moved between vehicles or locations |
| Technical work | AC, geyser or electrical removal and fitting |
| Contents unpacking | Unpacking cartons, as opposed to placing them in rooms |
| Storage | Any period in which goods wait at a storage location |
Cancellation and rescheduling
Ask for the advance amount, the reschedule terms and any deduction on cancellation in writing before you pay. A verbal assurance is incomplete until it appears in the quote.
Truck Rent, Tempo or Full House Shifting: Compare the Right Scope
If you want only a vehicle from Chennai to Madurai, say so at the enquiry stage. The household planning budgets above cover their stated moving scope; a vehicle-only freight figure is a different comparison. Identify who will pack, load, unload and assemble before comparing totals.
What decides the truck size?
For a Tata Ace type vehicle, a 14 ft or 17 ft truck, or a larger container, the useful questions are the same: what is the packed volume, how heavy is the load, and will the largest piece fit through the vehicle opening and both buildings? A 2 BHK label does not answer those questions. Send the room video, furniture dimensions and carton count so the body size and securing space can be assessed.
For a few items, compare available shared capacity with a separate vehicle. For owner-packed cartons, establish the packing responsibility and the applicable handling or cover terms. Any loading-only help, extra trip or smaller-vehicle transfer should be quoted against the actual inventory rather than assumed to be included.
House and Furniture Shifting, Item by Item
Books, crockery and kitchen goods
Books and other dense items go into small cartons so each box stays light enough to carry down stairs without strain. Crockery and glassware are wrapped one by one and placed in cartons with dividers or cushioning. Cartons are labelled by room and contents, which also helps with the outer-ID check at Madurai.
Beds, wardrobes and modular furniture
Edges and corners are protected with padding before loading. Whether a bed, wardrobe or dining table needs dismantling is decided by assessing the piece and the doors it has to pass, not by a fixed carpentry assumption. Where a piece is dismantled, the fittings go into labelled bags kept with that piece, and the agreed reassembly is done once at the Madurai address. Wall-mounted and built-in units need qualified technician work, which is quoted separately.
Mattresses, sofas and soft furnishings
Mattresses and sofas are covered against dust, scuffs and splashes, with their position in the load planned to avoid crushing under heavier goods.
TVs, monitors and glass
Televisions, monitors and glass tops travel in rigid, cushioned packing made for their size, in the orientation required for the item and its packing. Where the assessment calls for a wooden crate, the crate is a separate line in the quote.
Owner-packed and crew-packed cartons
Check how your quote and any cover treat cartons you pack yourself. Terms for owner-packed goods can differ from goods packed by the crew, so ask for that difference in writing.
Room placement and unpacking
Placing furniture and cartons in the right rooms is one task, and unpacking the contents is another. Unpacking, and the removal of packing material afterwards, happen only if they are agreed in the quote.
Loading only, into a vehicle you arrange
If you have arranged your own vehicle and need help with loading alone, that is a separate scope with its own quote. It is not part of the packed household budgets above.
Fridge, Washing Machine, AC and Other Appliances
Appliance preparation depends on the model, so the maker's manual comes before any general rule.
Refrigerators
Follow the manual for defrosting and drying before transit. Drying time differs between models, so read the manual and plan the time instead of relying on a standard day-before rule. List the refrigerator by size in the inventory so the carry and its position on the truck can be planned.
Washing machines
If your model's manual calls for transit bolts or restraints to hold the drum, arrange for them to be fitted as directed, using a qualified technician where required, and keep the restraints after delivery for the next move. Drain only as far as the manual directs.
Air conditioners, geysers and electrical fittings
Removal and refitting of an AC, a geyser or any electrical fitting is work for a qualified technician, and it is quoted separately from packing and transport. Say at the enquiry stage which units are fixed to a wall, because that affects planning at both addresses.
Appliances that cannot use the lift or stairs
If an appliance is too large for the lift or the staircase, say so in the inventory. The method, and who arranges it, are agreed before loading and not decided at the door.
Office Relocation from Chennai to Madurai
What the office move covers
Desks, chairs, cabinets, files, boxed computers and storage boxes are packed, loaded, transported and unloaded against an inventory. Share the number of workstations, the heavy items, and the floor and lift details at both ends so the quote reflects the real load.
Asset IDs and release
Stick asset ID labels on furniture and equipment, and keep one list that both the Chennai site and the Madurai receiver can check. Arrange any building release or gate pass for the day, and name the authorised person who signs on receipt at Madurai.
Files and storage boxes
Label files by team and floor so the boxes can be placed in the right zones at Madurai without opening them.
Computers and IT equipment
Your qualified IT person backs up data and disconnects equipment. Computers travel boxed, with cables labelled and packed in marked boxes. This is a physical relocation, so it cannot promise zero downtime. Plan time at Madurai for reconnecting and testing.
Industrial machinery
Industrial machinery is not part of a standard office quote. It is assessed separately, with its own method and timing.
Invoice details for a company-paid move
Share the employer billing name, GST details where applicable, approved services and claim format before booking. Keep the itemised estimate, invoice, payment proof, consignment note and signed inventory together. If your employer also pays for a vehicle or holding, ask for those services to be identified clearly rather than hidden inside the household total.
A fixed joining date at a Madurai office does not establish that your rented home is ready. Give the booking team both the reporting date and the first confirmed receiving slot so the transport choice supports your actual plan.
Car and Bike Transport Between Chennai and Madurai
Cars and bikes travel by carrier on a schedule of their own, so the vehicle date is confirmed separately from the household dispatch. It does not sit automatically inside the 1 to 2 or 2 to 4 day window.
| Vehicle | Planning budget | How it is arranged |
|---|---|---|
| Standard bike | ₹4,200 to ₹9,000 | Separate carrier window |
| Standard car | ₹8,200 to ₹15,600 | Separate carrier window |
| Premium bike, SUV or luxury car | Assessed separately | Closed carrier assessed for the specific vehicle |
Handover record
At pickup, record the condition with dated photographs of every side, the odometer reading, the number of keys, any accessories fitted and the papers handed over. Repeat the record at delivery and compare the two.
Fuel and battery
There is no single rule for every vehicle. Ask the actual carrier operator what fuel level and battery arrangement it requires, and check your vehicle maker's guidance as well. Remove loose valuables and personal items from the cabin.
Dates and access
Confirm the vehicle's loading and delivery dates separately from the household's, along with where the carrier can stop at each address. A car or bike carrier may need a wider stopping point than a household truck.
Moving a Few Items, Luggage or a Single Piece of Furniture
Students, professionals and small households often send only a bed, a desk, a few cartons or luggage. These loads are quoted from facts: the actual count, the dimensions, the weight and the charging basis the quote uses. If a minimum charge applies, the quote states it. If none applies, it says so.
What to send
- The number of pieces, and which are cartons, furniture or luggage
- Length, width and height of each large piece, and the weight of heavy ones
- Whether each carton is already packed and sealed
- Floors, lifts and the truck's stopping point at both addresses
- Preferred dates at Chennai, and the Madurai receiver's availability
How timing works
A few items usually travel as a part load, which is a portion of a shared truck and follows the 2 to 4 day window after dispatch. Dispatch depends on when the truck has space and the items are consolidated, so the quote should name the expected dispatch window as well as the days after it.
Packing for the Road and the Weather
Loading order and securing
A 460 km run means hours of vibration. Heavier cartons go at the bottom, gaps are filled so goods cannot shift, and loose parts are bagged and labelled. Cartons that must stay upright, such as those holding glass, are marked.
If rain is expected at loading or delivery
Keep furniture and mattresses dry before wrapping, because wrapping damp goods traps moisture. Agree protective outer covers and sheltered loading and unloading at both addresses. Extra wrapping does not replace a dry handling plan.
Chithirai, a housewarming date or a fixed tenancy end
Madurai has an annual Chithirai festival, generally in April or May. If your receiving address is near an event route, ask the receiver to check the current arrangements for that road and date with the relevant authority before fixing delivery. A past festival advisory is not a permanent truck-entry rule.
For a housewarming or family function, separate the date you want the goods delivered from the date the house is actually available for unloading. Confirm the goods entrance, lift slot and receiver for that appointment. If the date is fixed around Pongal, Deepavali or month-end, ask about actual vehicle and crew availability early; do not assume a standard surcharge or a guaranteed short-notice booking.
When rain or strong heat is forecast, arrange a sheltered waiting place at each entrance and keep goods out of exposed areas while the vehicle is being positioned. The suitable handling window depends on the weather and the building permission, rather than one morning or evening rule for every move.
Storage, Transit Cover and Items You Carry Yourself
Storage
Storage is never assumed to be part of a move. If goods must wait before delivery, the actual operator and location are named, and availability is confirmed before you agree. Ask for intake IDs and condition at entry, access rules, the duration, the rate, the exit terms and how redelivery is arranged, all in writing.
Optional transit cover
Cover is optional. If you choose it, it comes from an actual insurer's policy, so ask for the declared value, the exclusions, the deductible and how and when a claim must be reported. It sits alongside the carrier's own liability terms. It is neither mandatory nor a promise of full compensation for every loss.
Valuables, documents and medicines
Keep jewellery, cash, important documents, medicines, chargers and anything you cannot replace with you. These are not packed into the truck.
Chennai Pickup: Access Review and Loading Point
Finish the grouping before goods reach the pickup point
Once goods reach a pickup point, loose items are harder to keep track of. This photograph shows mixed shapes gathered outside, where a final count needs more than a quick glance.
Before your Chennai to Madurai loading slot, agree what can be brought outside and when the vehicle will be ready. Keep each numbered group together, leave the entrance usable and choose a dry place for any short wait. Small loose accessories should be packed and listed before the larger pieces come out.
Count the packages as they are handed over. Keep a note of anything retained at the Chennai home so it is not mistaken for a missing delivery item.
Agarwal Logistics Packers and Movers (ALPM) is an independent business with a Chennai branch at Senneerkuppam. Pickup planning starts with an access review of the Chennai address.
What the access review checks
- The full address, floor and whether the lift is usable for furniture
- Where the truck can stand and how far that is from the door
- Society movement slots or gate passes needed for moving day
- A clear entrance and staircase, and a reserved lift if the building allows it
- Parking or entry charges at the address
Photos and video
Share a room-by-room photo or video inventory. Show large items from the front and side, and include a doorway or tape measure for scale where it helps.
Pickup day
Walk through each room with the crew, point out fragile items and confirm what is staying behind. Photograph valuable furniture before it is wrapped so any condition question can be settled quickly. On this route a late start can push dispatch to the next day, so be ready when the crew arrives.
Chennai pickup areas and the first loading slot
For Velachery, Tambaram, Chromepet, Pallavaram, Medavakkam or Guindy, send the actual building entrance and loading window. For an OMR pickup in Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Sholinganallur, Navalur or Kelambakkam, add the project, tower and goods gate together. Porur, Valasaravakkam, Poonamallee, Avadi, Ambattur, Mogappair, Anna Nagar and T. Nagar enquiries need the same floor, lift and stopping-point details.
Plan from the home where loading takes place rather than assuming every pickup starts at the Senneerkuppam branch. Ask whether the crew can begin packing before the truck arrives, and have the society confirm the permitted loading time. This is particularly useful when you must return the Chennai keys that evening.
How a Chennai to Madurai Move Runs with ALPM
- Make a direct enquiry with your pickup area, Madurai address details, home size or item list, and preferred dates.
- Send a photo or video inventory, room by room, with sizes for large pieces.
- Complete the access review for both addresses: floors, lifts, truck stopping points and permissions.
- Receive an itemised estimate that states the truck mode, the base scope and each extra line as included, extra or not applicable.
- Agree the update contact and window, and have the Madurai receiver read back the full address before a vehicle is allocated.
- Pack, label and load, then dispatch. The after-dispatch clock starts at that point.
- Unload at the booked appointment and complete the handover, checking each outer ID for visible condition.
Updates after dispatch
You agree who is contacted and in which time window. If the dispatch or arrival plan changes, you receive a revised ETA, and the receiver gets a call ahead of arrival. These are agreed contact updates, not a live tracking map.
Handover in Madurai: Outer IDs, Visible Condition and Exceptions
Check outer IDs one by one
Check each carton or piece against the inventory by its outer ID, one at a time, and note the visible condition of each. A final count alone can hide a missing or damaged item.
Visible condition is not proof of contents
A carton that looks intact outside does not prove that what is inside is undamaged. Treat the handover check as a record of the outside, and open fragile cartons soon after delivery.
Record exceptions and report promptly
Write any exception on the delivery sheet at the time of handover, photograph it and report it promptly. Reporting soon after delivery keeps the record clear for everyone.
If the receiver cannot take delivery
A backup receiver can accept the goods only if the gate, lift, crew and room are available. Otherwise a new slot is agreed, or permitted holding is assessed. Holding names the actual operator and location and sets out availability, custody, conditions, duration, rates, exit and redelivery. Waiting and holding are not free by default.
Comparing Chennai to Madurai Movers on Equal Terms
A comparison is only fair when each mover is quoting the same job. Hold these elements equal before you compare totals.
| Element | What a clear quote shows |
|---|---|
| Inventory | The same room-by-room list on every quote |
| Mode | Dedicated or shared, including the size of a part-load booking and days after dispatch |
| Both doors | Floors, lifts and carry distances at Chennai and Madurai |
| Scope | Packing, assembly, unpacking and extras line by line |
| Clock | After-dispatch window, with packing and the unloading appointment kept separate |
| Cover | The actual insurer, declared value, exclusions and deductible, if cover is chosen |
| Written total | One total, with every extra marked included, extra or not applicable |
Why ALPM
ALPM is an independent business, and this route is quoted from your own inventory instead of a flat headline price. The process can be checked on paper: a direct enquiry, a photo or video inventory, an access review, an itemised estimate, an agreed update window and an outer-ID handover.
