Chennai to Ranchi packers and movers charges
These are indicative budget guides for October 2026, written for a shared load with normal packing and normal access. They help you plan a budget. They are not a tariff or an invoice, and the figure you pay comes from an itemised written estimate after we review your inventory and access.
| Move size | Indicative range |
|---|---|
| Few items or 1 RK | Rs. 10,800 to Rs. 23,500 |
| 1 BHK | Rs. 20,300 to Rs. 27,400 |
| 2 BHK | Rs. 28,800 to Rs. 37,600 |
| 3 BHK or 4 BHK | Rs. 35,600 to Rs. 48,600 |
The combined 3–4 BHK band is a broad planning guide. The actual packed inventory and available shared capacity decide whether it applies; a large home may need a separately priced dedicated vehicle.
Few items or a full house on a shared load
A small move is priced from what you actually send. For a few items we need the real count, the packed size, the weight and the volume, and the estimate states the charging basis and any minimum. A few items travelling on a shared truck sit inside the shared guide above and are not treated as a full vehicle.
If your inventory is large, our assessment may point to a dedicated vehicle instead. A whole vehicle booked for you alone is priced separately and is not covered by these bands, and heavy or special items are priced separately as well.
Office moves
An office is priced from a physical inventory of desks, chairs, cabinets, files, computers and other equipment, never from a BHK size. Send the list or photos and we will tell you which vehicle mode the load suggests.
What sits inside a quote and what is written separately
What the base figure covers
The base figure covers packing, loading at the Chennai address, road transport, unloading in Ranchi and assembly of items agreed in advance, counted once. Anything beyond that is named in the estimate so you can compare totals honestly.
Lines marked included, extra or not applicable
Each of the following is written against its own line in the estimate as included, extra or not applicable:
- Tax
- Optional transit cover
- Tolls and parking
- Stairs and long carry from the vehicle to the door
- Wooden crates
- Waiting time
- Holding or transfer of goods
- A technician for appliances
- Unpacking of contents and removal of packing material
- Storage
Why similar homes price differently
Volume moves the price more than room count. A 2 BHK with a large wardrobe, a washing machine and many book cartons can cost more than a sparse 3 BHK. Access matters too: a third-floor flat with no lift takes more crew time than a ground-floor home, so tell us about floors, lifts and lane width at both ends when you ask for the estimate.
A flexible pickup date also gives us more room to place your goods on a suitable vehicle, while a fixed date at short notice narrows the choices.
Route and distance from Chennai to Ranchi
The distance to plan around
Use about 1,730 km as a road-distance budget guide. Mapping options include NH16 and connections toward Ranchi using NH30 or NH26 on some variants. The exact distance changes with your pickup door, Ranchi destination and the corridor selected for the allocated vehicle.
How the route is chosen
The operator selects the actual corridor for your load, and more than one is possible. We do not promise a particular halt town, ghat section, toll total or current road condition, because these change from week to week. If a closure or diversion affects your dispatch, we pass it on through the update contact agreed with you.
Why kilometres do not give a delivery date
A loaded truck does not travel like a car, and consolidation, driver rest and unloading slots all sit outside a simple distance sum. Use the days-after-dispatch windows below to plan your delivery instead, and treat the kilometre figure only as a sense of scale.
Moving to a Ranchi campus or staff quarters
Some Ranchi moves end inside an institution rather than at a street address: a campus, a hostel, staff quarters or an estate colony. In Mesra and on the outskirts the actual campus matters, and no fixed last leg or set of campus rules should be assumed. The most useful step is a delivery record that you complete before dispatch and that everyone then works from.
The delivery record to complete before dispatch
Ask the institution or estate office for each item below, write it down, and keep one approved version. We use that same version for the quote, the inventory, the Chennai crew plan, the driver's instructions and the person receiving at the campus.
| Item to record | What to write down | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Version and recheck date | The date of the latest approved record and a date to recheck it | Everyone works from the same facts |
| Exact place | Institution, campus, building, wing, room or quarters number and PIN | Where the vehicle and crew actually go |
| Resident and key date | The allocated resident, the key handover date and the authority or estate or hostel office that allotted it | The earliest sensible delivery day |
| Personal goods approval | The office's reply on whether personal goods and which appliances are accepted | What may be loaded in Chennai |
| Provided furniture and appliances | What the room already has and what is permitted | Which of your own items you can leave out |
| Your own inventory | Only your items, with outer IDs and count | The single list for quote, crew and receiver |
| Gate, vehicle and access | Goods gate, vehicle permission, floor, lift or stairs and the approved unloading slot | Vehicle size and crew time |
| Where our handover ends | The gate or the actual room, the agreed carry and assembly marked included, extra or not applicable | Crew responsibility and cost |
| Receiver and backup | A named resident receiver and a backup who has authority to accept | Avoiding a failed delivery |
A worked example with a pending fridge
Suppose, as an example, that your quarters come with a bed and a wardrobe, but permission for a personal fridge has not been confirmed. Your own bed and wardrobe come off the final move list only after you have decided that and the provided-furniture list is confirmed. The fridge cannot simply be sent and left at a department mailroom while acceptance is pending.
Get the estate or hostel's actual reply before the fridge is loaded. If the reply is not in hand, either leave the fridge out, defer it, or move it separately under terms agreed in writing. Then reissue the final inventory, the quote and the crew plan as a new version so nobody works from the old list.
Gate handover or delivery to the room
Check which scope you have booked, because the two are different jobs. If only a gate handover is booked, the receiver needs an actual approved plan for carrying the goods from the gate, with crew and vehicle, so cartons are not left standing at the gate. Outer IDs and visible condition are handed over where that is agreed.
If delivery to the room is agreed, confirm the floor, lift or stairs, crew carry and assembly in writing before dispatch, with any extra handling stated.
If the allocation is not ready
If keys or approvals are not ready, the cleanest option is to wait before the Chennai dispatch. Where a holding arrangement is needed and feasible, it needs a named operator and location, confirmed availability, and written terms for custody, outer IDs, visible condition, access, duration, rate, exit and redelivery before you rely on it.
A backup receiver is only useful if the gate, lift, crew and room are actually ready when they receive. Otherwise agree a new slot in writing.
Joining an institution or an allotted residence
If you are joining BIT Mesra, IIM Ranchi, RIMS or another institution, separate the reporting address from the place where your personal belongings can be received. Use the actual allotment and the estate or hostel reply to complete the record above. A department name or admission-office address alone does not confirm a room, personal-appliance permission or furniture acceptance.
For a smaller student load, first check what the room already provides. Keep only your own accepted items on the final inventory and share any change before loading. A family household, staff-quarter move and hostel room can need different goods and handling even when the institution name is the same.
Delivery in Ranchi: doors, receivers and handover
Give a door, not a city
For Harmu, Lalpur, Kanke, Doranda and Dhurwa, send the building or flat, the street, the PIN, the goods entrance and the place where a truck can stop. Lanes, gates and society rules differ, so a locality name or a railway station drop is not enough to plan a vehicle.
Receiver and unloading slot
Share a named receiver and a phone number that will be answered, along with the floor and lift details. Agree the unloading slot before dispatch and reconfirm it with the receiver as the arrival estimate becomes clearer. A missed slot may need a new written appointment.
If the truck cannot reach the entrance
A smaller vehicle or extra carry is arranged only if it is needed, lawful and feasible. It needs an assessed operator and a permitted location with confirmed availability, a crew to unload, reload and carry, and outer IDs and condition checked at the transfer. The local leg is costed and counted once in writing. It is not an automatic city shuttle or a roadside unload.
Checking outer IDs at handover
Each outer ID is checked one by one against the inventory, together with the visible condition of the goods. A tally of cartons alone does not show that contents are undamaged, and a closed, intact outer does not prove what is inside. Record any exception on the handover sheet, report it promptly, and unpack fragile cartons soon after delivery.
More Ranchi neighbourhoods and nearby-town enquiries
For Morabadi, Bariatu, Kokar, Hinoo, Argora, Ratu Road, Hatia, Namkum or Booty More, send the complete street, building, flat and PIN with the goods-entrance pin. A familiar junction or the railway station does not identify the household door. Tell the booking contact which entrance the allocated vehicle can approach and where the crew will carry from.
For Mesra or Ormanjhi, specify the exact campus, colony or home. If your destination is Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh or Ramgarh rather than Ranchi, write that town into the enquiry. A Chennai to Jharkhand request needs an estimate for its actual destination; the Ranchi kilometre guide and delivery window do not establish another town's scope.
Packing furniture, appliances and fragile goods
Beds, wardrobes and tables
Furniture is dismantled only where the design allows and our assessment agrees. Fittings go into labelled bags, and reassembly is agreed in writing. Not every modular unit or fixed piece of carpentry can be taken apart, so tell us about built-in items early.
Books, crockery, glass and televisions
Books go into small cartons so they stay liftable, and crockery gets cushioning and dividers. Furniture edges get covers and mattresses get covers. A television travels in rigid, cushioned packing, or in a crate if we assess that it needs one. Cartons you pack yourself are handled under written terms that differ from crew-packed ones, so ask how the estimate treats them.
Fridge, washing machine and air conditioner
For a fridge, follow the maker's guidance on defrosting and drying before the move. Fit washing-machine transit bolts or restraints if that model requires them, following its manual, and there is no universal time rule for when to restart an appliance after the move, so follow the maker's instructions. Air conditioner removal and refitting is done by a qualified electrical or AC technician and is quoted separately.
Damp, rain and wrapping
Goods are dried before wrapping, and handled in sheltered spots where site conditions allow. We do not promise waterproof protection in all weather.
Room placement or unpacking
Placing cartons in the right rooms is different from unpacking contents and removing packing material. Unpacking and material removal happen only where they are agreed and marked in the estimate.
Offices, holding, transit cover and what stays with you
Physical office moves
A physical office move runs on a list of desks, chairs, files in boxes, computers and tagged assets, with release and receiver names at both ends. Disconnecting and reconnecting IT equipment, and backing up data, should be done by your own qualified IT person, with reconnection and testing planned separately. Industrial machinery needs a separate assessment.
Loading into your own vehicle
If you only want loading into a vehicle you arrange, that is quoted as its own job with the responsibilities for vehicle and load written down.
Holding and storage
Where holding is needed and feasible, the estimate names the actual operator and location and records availability, intake outer IDs, visible condition, access, duration, rate, exit and redelivery. Confirm those terms before you count on storage, rather than assuming it is included.
Optional transit cover
Optional cover is a separate policy from an actual insurer. Read the declared value, the exclusions, the deductible and the reporting steps, and note that it sits alongside the carrier liability terms written in your estimate. It is not mandatory for every move.
Valuables, documents and unusual items
Keep valuables, documents and medicines with you. For unusual items such as musical instruments, artwork or gym equipment, tell us early so they can be assessed and accepted or handled separately.
Employer-paid moves and billing papers
Get the employer's billing name, address, GSTIN where applicable and document checklist before booking. Confirm whether it needs the estimate, packing list, consignment note, invoice and receipt together, and whether vehicle transport needs separate papers. Keep the actual goods address and approved inventory consistent across the records. Reimbursement follows the employer's approval.
Bike and car transport from Chennai to Ranchi
| Vehicle | Indicative range |
|---|---|
| Standard bike or scooter | Rs. 4,900 to Rs. 9,300 |
| Larger bike | Rs. 5,600 to Rs. 11,700 |
| Standard hatchback car | Rs. 15,700 to Rs. 23,800 |
| Sedan, SUV, luxury car or closed carrier | Assessed separately |
This is a separate vehicle-transport budget, not the household packing package. The written vehicle estimate identifies wrapping or protection, collection and delivery points, loading and unloading, carrier type, tax and optional cover as included, extra or not applicable. The final figure depends on the actual model, carrier availability and both end points. Sedans, SUVs, luxury cars and any request for a closed carrier are assessed separately.
Separate carrier, separate clock
A vehicle usually travels on a different carrier from your household goods, with its own dispatch date. Plan a separate receiving window and do not assume your car and your furniture arrive together.
Before you hand over the vehicle
Take dated condition photos and note the odometer reading. Hand over keys and accessories, and keep copies of the required papers with the vehicle as the carrier asks. Follow the carrier's and the maker's guidance on fuel and battery, since there is no single rule that suits every vehicle, and remove loose items and personal documents.
Vehicle papers and named handovers
Have the RC, valid insurance, applicable PUC and owner details ready. Ask the carrier which copies and authorisation it needs and keep originals with you. Name the person handing over in Chennai and the person receiving at the destination so the keys, accessories, condition photos and odometer record can be checked at both ends.
Chennai pickup, estimate and updates
Photo or video inventory and access review
Send photos or a video of each room, plus the floor, lift, lane width, society permissions and where a vehicle can stand at the Chennai address. We use these to draft an itemised written estimate, and any item we cannot judge from the pictures is flagged for a quick call.
Before the crew arrives
- Prepare the fridge and washing machine as the maker advises.
- Keep valuables, documents and medicines with you.
- Pack a bag of daily essentials for the first days in Ranchi.
- Ask your society about moving hours and vehicle entry, and note lift timings and narrow lanes.
On the day the crew packs room by room, marks each outer ID, notes existing marks on furniture before loading, and gives you the inventory list to keep.
Updates, cancellation and rescheduling
We agree a contact person and a time window for updates. You hear about the dispatch confirmation, any revised arrival estimate, and a call to the receiver, through the agreed phone or message channel. Confirm the advance, payment stages, cancellation and rescheduling terms in writing before booking.
Chennai localities and the loading entrance
For Anna Nagar, T Nagar, Porur, Ambattur, Avadi or Poonamallee, share the full building address and vehicle approach. For Velachery, Adyar, Tambaram, Chromepet, Medavakkam or an OMR apartment in Perungudi or Sholinganallur, include the project, tower, lift opening and loading slot. Sriperumbudur enquiries need the actual home or office goods gate rather than only the employer's name.
If you travel to Jharkhand before the goods, nominate someone in Chennai who can approve the inventory, identify belongings staying behind and check the home after loading. Leave them the estimate and packing instructions; the Ranchi receiver needs the same final package list.
Your Chennai to Ranchi Move, Step by Step
- Share the load: send room-wise photos or a short video, with large-item sizes and both full addresses.
- Review access and price: check lifts, stairs, vehicle approach and the complete packing and unloading scope.
- Settle the receiving plan: agree the mode, packing date, expected dispatch and receiver. For an institution, complete the campus record before loading.
- Pack and load: identify every package on the final inventory and keep a copy with each handover contact.
- Follow the dispatch update: count the published transit window from departure and recheck the Ranchi appointment near the revised ETA.
- Receive and check: match package numbers, record visible condition and complete the agreed placement and assembly.
Why ALPM and how to compare quotes
Agarwal Logistics Packers and Movers (ALPM) is an independent company with a branch at Senneerkuppam, Chennai. Agarwal is a common name in moving, so check the legal name, branch address and phone number on any quote you hold.
Comparing like with like
A lower total is only lower if the scope is the same. Line the quotes up on these points before choosing:
| Check | What to line up |
|---|---|
| Inventory and mode | The same inventory and the same shared or dedicated mode |
| Both doors | Floors, lifts and carry at pickup and in Ranchi |
| Scope | Packing, unpacking, assembly and unloading, each marked included or extra |
| Clock | Days counted after dispatch, not after booking |
| Cover | Whether cover is included, who the insurer is, and what the policy excludes |
| Written total | One written figure with every extra named |
What you work with at our Chennai branch
You deal directly with the branch: you send a photo or video inventory, we review access, and we return an itemised written estimate. You get an agreed update contact and window, and goods are handed over by outer ID with visible condition recorded.
