Chennai to Patna House Shifting Charges
These October 2026 figures are indicative budgets for a shared load with normal packing and normal access. They cover packing, loading, road transport, unloading and any assembly agreed in advance. Where you land inside a range depends on inventory volume, floors and lift access at both addresses, and how much of the vehicle your goods occupy.
| Home size | Budget range |
|---|---|
| 1 BHK | ₹13,600 – ₹30,000 |
| 2 BHK | ₹16,000 – ₹35,300 |
| 3 BHK | ₹23,100 – ₹51,400 |
| 4 BHK | ₹36,500 – ₹1,10,500 |
A large inventory may be assessed for a dedicated vehicle instead. A dedicated whole-vehicle move, and heavy or special items, are quoted separately rather than read off this table. The 4 BHK band is wide because a lean flat and a heavily furnished home differ a lot. A photo or video inventory narrows it quickly, and the itemised written estimate is the figure to compare.
What the base budget covers
- Packing with the materials listed in your estimate
- Loading at the Chennai address
- Road transport to Patna
- Unloading at the Patna door
- Assembly that was agreed in the estimate, counted once
Lines to mark as included, extra or not applicable
GST and other applicable taxes are added separately. Ask for each of these to appear in the estimate with a clear mark:
- Toll and parking
- Stairs and long carry at either address
- Wooden crates for fragile or heavy items
- Technical work for appliances such as ACs
- Optional transit cover
- Waiting time, holding and transfer to a smaller vehicle
- Unpacking of contents and removal of packing material
- Storage
Distance and Route for Chennai to Patna
Treat about 2,100 km as one planning figure for the road distance. The real number changes with your pickup and delivery addresses and with the highways the allocated vehicle uses. A maps check on 16 October 2026 showed highway combinations from about 1,884 km to about 2,073 km, using NH16 with NH30 and NH22 in different mixes, and the addresses at each end change the total again.
Why a car's driving time is the wrong clock
Passenger-car estimates of roughly 39 to 44 hours describe someone driving a car. A loaded goods vehicle follows its own loading, consolidation and driver-rest plan, so use days after dispatch for your goods.
No fixed halts
The allocated operator chooses the corridor, so no fixed halt towns or road conditions are promised. Ask for the expected dispatch day, and check the route with the operator closer to the date.
Days After Dispatch: Shared, Dedicated and Part Load
Delivery windows count from the day the vehicle leaves Chennai, not from the day you book or the day packing starts. They are planning estimates, not fixed dates.
| Clock | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Before departure | Packing, loading and, for shared moves, consolidation in Chennai |
| Dedicated truck | Planned at 5–7 days after dispatch |
| Shared load | Planned at 7–10 days after dispatch |
| Unloading appointment | Agreed separately with the receiver as the vehicle nears Patna |
| Car or bike | Separate carrier with its own date or window |
Choosing between shared, dedicated and part load
Mode depends on fit and on how much control you want over dispatch, not only on home size. A full house can travel shared when it fits the consolidated load. A smaller home can still go dedicated if you want one vehicle for your goods alone. A part load occupies a portion of shared capacity, which may suit a few pieces of furniture or a small inventory.
A dedicated vehicle gives you closer control over when it leaves, but that is control of dispatch, not a promise of a delivery date. Ask for the expected dispatch day and the mode in writing, separately from the delivery window.
Moving to Patna Around Chhath: Receiver Availability Plan
Bihar Tourism describes Chhath as a time when families and friends gather at the riverbank in the evening on the third day and before sunrise on the final day. Not every family observes it, and no road closure is assumed here. But if your move overlaps a family observance, the person meant to receive your goods may be at the ghat when the truck arrives. Check the dates relevant to your household and the latest access advisory for the actual delivery entrance.
The receiver availability card
Fill this in before dispatch and share it with the Chennai booking team before the truck leaves.
| Decision | What to record |
|---|---|
| Primary receiver | Name, phone and the hours they can actually receive |
| Keyholder and backup | Who holds keys, and a named backup with authority to sign the inventory and record condition |
| Receiving window | Primary window and an alternate window |
| Address | Full address with PIN, the actual goods gate, floor, lift and room |
| Gate, lift and crew slot | Whether the society allows goods entry and the goods lift at that hour |
| Local advisory | Source and date of any advisory you checked, if any |
| Vehicle access and decision contact | Nearest point the vehicle can reach and who decides on the spot |
| Cost approval | Who approves extra cost for waiting or holding |
| Recheck | Time of the last check made close to the expected arrival |
One card version, used everywhere
Give the card a version and a date. Use the same approved version for the quote inventory, the Chennai crew brief, the driver's delivery sheet and the Patna receiver call, and recheck it close to the expected arrival.
A hypothetical to plan against
In this hypothetical planning example, suppose the primary receiver joins the family at the ghat during the expected arrival window. The backup has the keys, but the goods lift and a crew slot are not available. The delivery is not ready just because someone holds keys. A backup only works when the gate, lift, crew and room are all available.
If the slot is missed
First choice: rebook an available gate, lift, crew and room slot in writing before the vehicle approaches. If that cannot be done, assessed holding may be possible with a named operator at a named location, subject to availability and confirmed in writing: storage conditions, custody, outer IDs visible, condition of goods, access, duration, rate, exit and redelivery. Confirm any holding charge and required storage conditions before goods are moved to that location. Anything beyond this needs the cost approver named on the card to agree first.
Match the travel plan with the receiving plan
If your family travels to Bihar before the goods, leave the approved packing list with the receiver and confirm when the home keys will be available. For a Diwali or Chhath enquiry, ask for actual dispatch and crew availability early, then use the receiver card to agree the unloading window. A festival date by itself does not establish a road closure or make every household unavailable.
Check the forecast at both ends close to packing and dispatch. Keep cartons, mattresses and wooden pieces dry before wrapping. If rain affects the loading approach or the Patna receiving space, update the contact and agree the revised appointment before the vehicle approaches.
Patna Delivery by Area
Patna is not one delivery context, so a city label alone is not enough for a goods vehicle.
Danapur, Bailey Road and Kankarbagh
Give the actual door: full address, PIN, floor, lift availability and the goods gate. Say where the largest vehicle can safely stop and whether the society limits goods entry hours.
Patna City and ghat-side lanes
Check the actual entrance rather than assuming. Lanes near the river can be narrow on some stretches and open on others, so confirm the street rather than relying on a city-wide assumption. Describe the entrance you will use, with a landmark.
Hajipur across the river
Hajipur needs its own real address and is quoted as that actual delivery endpoint, with the allocated vehicle operator checking the final approach. Confirm bridge approach and vehicle eligibility under current orders close to the date. No fixed bridge ban or fee is assumed here.
If a smaller final leg is needed
When a large vehicle cannot reach the door, a smaller final leg may be used if it is lawful and feasible. That means a named operator, a permitted location, crew to unload and reload, outer IDs and condition checked at each handover and the local-leg cost counted once in the estimate. Availability, crew carry and the permitted transfer location must be confirmed before the final leg is promised.
Write the locality and the actual goods entrance together
For Boring Road, Raja Bazar, Saguna More, Rupaspur, Khagaul, Rajendra Nagar or Patliputra Colony, give the building, street, floor and PIN rather than only a familiar junction. For Anisabad, Gardanibagh or Phulwari Sharif, add the vehicle approach and the point from which goods will be carried. The receiver should confirm these details from the actual door.
For Bihta, Fatuha or a town beyond Patna, name that destination before comparing quotes. Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur or Darbhanga enquiries need an estimate for the real address; the Patna road-distance and price guide does not establish the onward leg. Keep an employer's reporting address separate from the home where the furniture belongs.
Preparing the Chennai Pickup for Your Patna Move
Share the full pickup address, loading entrance and the date you can hand over the home. The Senneerkuppam branch can plan the survey and vehicle assessment from these details; a broad locality name leaves the access work unresolved.
- OMR and south Chennai: for Sholinganallur, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Navalur, Velachery or Tambaram, include the project, tower, service-lift size and goods slot.
- West and central Chennai: for Porur, Poonamallee, Ambattur, Avadi, Anna Nagar, T Nagar, Guindy or Saidapet, send entrance photos if the vehicle approach is uncertain.
- Industrial-belt enquiries: for Sriperumbudur or Oragadam, identify whether the pickup is a home or a physical office, with the correct release contact and goods gate.
Ask the association or property contact what move-out permission and lift booking it requires. If you travel ahead, leave an authorised person who can approve the inventory, identify goods staying behind and check the home after loading. Pack a first-night bag separately for the gap before the Patna delivery.
Bike and Car Transport from Chennai to Patna
Vehicles usually move on a separate carrier with their own date or window, so they may reach Patna on a different day from your household goods. Plan the first days there with that gap in mind.
| Vehicle | Budget range |
|---|---|
| Standard bike | ₹3,500 – ₹6,200 |
| Standard car | ₹31,500 – ₹59,400 |
The endpoint and the model change the carrier choice. Premium bikes, SUVs, luxury cars and closed-carrier requests are assessed separately.
Preparing a vehicle for pickup
- Dated photos of every side, interior and existing marks
- Odometer reading on the handover note
- Keys and listed accessories
- Copies of the required papers (the exact list depends on the carrier)
- Fuel and battery as the carrier and the maker's instructions require, since there is no universal low-fuel rule
Vehicle papers and separate dates
Have the RC, valid insurance, applicable PUC and owner details ready, and ask the carrier which copies and authorisation it needs. Keep originals with you. Name both handover contacts and tell the booking desk if you need the bike before the household goods. Confirm the available carrier window instead of planning both arrivals as one appointment.
Few Items, Furniture and Office Shifting
A few boxes, a bed or a sofa set
A small load is priced from the actual count, size, weight and volume of your items, along with the charging basis and any minimum the operator applies. No fixed few-item figure is published, because those details change the cost. List each piece, note stairs or lift access at both addresses, and ask what the quote's basis is.
Physical office moves
Offices are estimated from the physical inventory, not from BHK size. List desks, chairs, files, boxed computers and equipment, and give lift access and working hours at both ends so loading and delivery can be planned around your team.
- Computers and IT equipment are boxed and tagged with your asset IDs, with release and receiving handled by an owner or receiver on your side.
- Your own qualified IT person should back up and disconnect systems and reconnect them in Patna. Plan for some downtime rather than expecting none.
- Industrial machinery needs a separate assessment.
Single-room and bachelor moves
If you are moving out of a hostel, PG or a small rented flat, list what you own and what belongs to the landlord. Include a bed or cot, fridge, washing machine, desk, book cartons and any cycle separately. Give dimensions for the bulky pieces and identify what is already packed. Compare shared space on that list, with loading and unloading still clearly included or assigned; a few sealed cartons do not make an unpacked appliance ready to move.
Employer-paid transfers
Collect the employer's billing name, address, GSTIN where applicable and document checklist before booking. Confirm whether it needs the estimate, packing list, consignment note, invoice and receipt together, and whether vehicle transport needs separate paperwork. Use the same approved inventory and addresses throughout; reimbursement follows your employer's approval.
Packing and Handling: What Your Estimate Should Spell Out
Furniture and fittings
Packing is planned from the actual inventory, with door widths, stairs and lift size checked against large pieces. Beds and wardrobes are dismantled only where the design allows, assessed case by case, with fittings placed in labelled bags and reassembly agreed in advance. Not every modular or fixed carpentry item can be taken apart and refitted.
Books, crockery, TV and fragile items
Books go in small cartons, crockery gets cushioning and dividers, furniture edges get covers and mattresses get covers. A rigid, cushioned pack or a crate may be advised for a TV if assessed. State in the estimate whether you pack a room yourself or the crew packs it, because the terms differ for owner-packed boxes.
Refrigerators, washing machines and ACs
Refrigerators are emptied, defrosted and dried following the maker's guidance. Washing machines need the transit restraints their model requires. Fixed rules on resting time before a restart vary by model, so follow the manual. Removing and refitting an AC needs a qualified AC or electrical technician, priced separately.
Dry goods and weather
Dry goods are wrapped while dry, and handled under shelter where the loading point allows. Agree suitable covers and sheltered handling for the forecast and site conditions; sealed wrapping alone does not ensure protection in heavy rain.
Room placement and unpacking
Placing furniture in rooms is different from unpacking contents. Unpacking and removal of packing material happen only if agreed as a written line in the estimate.
Loading-Only, Storage and Optional Transit Cover
Loading only
If you arrange the vehicle yourself, loading can be quoted as a separate responsibility. Agree in writing what the crew does at each end and who is responsible for the vehicle and the load.
Storage
If your Patna home is not ready, storage is arranged through a named operator at a named location, subject to availability. Ask for the intake record with outer IDs and visible condition, the access terms, the duration, the rate, how you exit and how redelivery works.
Optional transit cover
Cover is optional and is not assumed. If you want it, ask for the actual insurer's policy terms: declared value, exclusions, deductible and how a loss is reported. It sits alongside the carrier's own liability and is not a universal rule, and no fixed percentage or full compensation is implied.
From Enquiry to Delivery
- Enquire directly with the Chennai branch, with both addresses, preferred dates and whether you need shared or dedicated transport, and whether it is a full household or a part load.
- Share a photo or video inventory, and review access at both ends: floors, lifts, gates and parking.
- Receive an itemised written estimate marking each extra as included, extra or not applicable.
- Agree the update contact and the contact window, and fill in the receiver availability card.
- Pack and load in Chennai against the agreed inventory, with outer IDs on each carton.
- Receive dispatch confirmation, then follow the days-after-dispatch window for your mode.
- Recheck the receiver card close to the expected arrival and agree the unloading appointment.
- Unload, place furniture, complete agreed assembly and check the outer IDs and condition with the receiver.
Delivery Check in Patna: Outer IDs and Condition
Check outer IDs one by one as the goods come off the vehicle, and look at the visible condition of each piece as you do. An ID only identifies a carton. A matching count is not proof of the condition of what is inside, and closed contents are not proven by a tally.
- Note any dents, tears, wet patches or open flaps on the handover sheet before signing.
- Record exceptions and report them promptly to the agreed contact.
- Unpack fragile items soon after delivery so any problem is found early.
Updates, Rescheduling and Items to Keep With You
Updates during the move
Agree an update contact and a contact window at booking. Expect a dispatch confirmation, a revised ETA if the plan changes and a call to your receiver before arrival. Confirm which update method is available for your booking.
Advance, cancellation and rescheduling
Ask for the actual written terms for any advance, cancellation or rescheduling before you book. Confirm the advance amount, payment stages and the cost of changes before paying.
Keep these with you
Carry valuables, documents and medicines yourself rather than packing them. For unusual items, ask for an acceptance assessment before the packing date instead of assuming they will be taken.
Moving records to keep ready
Keep the approved estimate, packing list, shipment reference and both receiving contacts together. Ask which ID or authorisation copies the carrier needs. Used personal and household effects are listed in the e-way-bill exemption under the Annexure to Rule 138(14); new goods and business stock need their applicable documents checked separately. This exemption is separate from GST on the moving service.
Why Choose Agarwal Logistics Packers and Movers
Agarwal Logistics Packers and Movers (ALPM) is an independent company, separate from other businesses that use a similar name. Pickups are planned through the branch at SF 88/3B-15, Shop No. 21, Jeevan Prakash Nagar, Senneerkuppam, Chennai - 600056.
What you can check is the process itself: a photo or video inventory and access review, an itemised written estimate, an agreed update contact and window, a receiver card shared before dispatch and an outer-ID and condition check at handover. Each is something you can ask to see in writing before you book.
How to Compare Chennai to Patna Movers
Compare quotes line by line instead of by the total alone.
- The same inventory, with room and item counts
- The same mode: shared or dedicated, with any part load identified within shared capacity
- Scope at both doors: floors, stairs, long carry and lift access
- The same clock: days after dispatch, with pre-departure work and the unloading appointment listed separately
- Cover: whether it is offered, the insurer's terms and the cost
- The written total with taxes, toll, parking and holding marked
A very low verbal figure can leave several of these out, so ask for it in writing before you compare.
Compare road service with a parcel option on the full scope
For a few cartons or a bike, ask a parcel or railway operator what it accepts, how packing is handled and where goods must be handed over and collected. Add any local vehicle, handling and storage costs before comparing with a road quote for your Chennai and Patna doors. For furniture, establish the item acceptance and unloading arrangement first. A line-haul figure alone does not cover the same work as a household moving estimate.
