What moves a quote within its range

A price per kilometre or a short-route rate does not describe a household move to Guwahati. Before the vehicle is handed over
- Take dated photos of every side, the roof, the interior and any existing marks.

Compare two quotes only after both mark these lines the same way. A lower total with several lines marked extra can end up above a higher total with those lines included.

About 2,700 km, not a fixed itinerary
Mapping tools show driving options of roughly 2,707 km, 2,741 km and 2,762 km between the two cities, and your actual doors move that figure. The east-coast corridor along NH16 carries a large part of the trip, with connections through north Bengal and western Assam. NH27 alternatives also appear. IIT Guwahati and AIIMS Guwahati are different receiving points
IIT Guwahati is in the Amingaon/North Guwahati area; AIIMS Guwahati is at Changsari. A booking that says only Guwahati or university accommodation leaves too much unresolved. Confirm the actual residence, hostel or staff quarter and its gate with the receiving office. If your room is not yet allotted, settle a revised delivery date or a separately priced holding plan before dispatch rather than sending household goods to an academic or hospital reception.
Which Bank of the Brahmaputra, and Where Can You Unload Dry?
Guwahati addresses are not interchangeable. The Dispur and south-bank city side and the Amingaon and North Guwahati side are different receiving points, with different approaches for a goods vehicle. An airport or metro label is not enough to decide which one applies. The exact destination pin and the river bank are confirmed before a vehicle is allocated. No crossing or restriction is assumed, and the approach is checked for your actual address.
Official district descriptions mention localised flooding and waterlogging. That makes this a question for each address, not an assumption about the whole city and not a weather alert.
The receiving worksheet

Waiting, storage and a local shuttle are not free or automatic. A backup receiver helps only if the actual gate, the lift, the crew and a dry room are available.
A hypothetical example
This is a planning illustration and not a past job. A booking is noted with a Dispur label, but the receiver's goods gate pin sits in Amingaon on the north bank. The approach, the receiver, the vehicle fit, the crew and the cost are revised before allocation and before loading. If it turns out that only the label was wrong and the actual door is unchanged, the correction is clerical. It is not an automatic reroute fee.
When alternate handling is agreed
If an alternate receiving or holding arrangement is assessed, the written plan names the operator and the permitted location, the availability, the custody and package IDs, the condition record, the access arrangements, the duration, the rate, the exit and the redelivery. The scope is counted once and is not repeated across lines.
If an outer package is wet
Record its ID, take photos and note the visible condition. Protect the goods, then agree an assessed dry repack or another next step. Cross-reference any replacement package ID. Packages are not unwrapped or relabelled without a record, and no extra charge applies unless it was agreed. Each ID is checked individually and its visible condition recorded, not just the total count. A closed outer package does not prove the contents inside are undamaged.

Furniture is quoted by count, and by whether it fits through the door, stairs and lift at both ends. Beds and wardrobes are dismantled and reassembled only where agreed. Fixed carpentry and built-in work is separate. A fridge is defrosted and dried as its manual says, and a washing machine's transit restraints are fitted if the model needs them. Neither has a universal wait time. AC and electrical work needs a qualified technician and is a separate line. Placing furniture in the right room is different from unpacking its contents, and each is quoted on its own.
Few items and luggage
A smaller move is quoted from the item count, the dimensions, the weight or volume and the packing agreed. Boxes, bags and a few pieces of furniture can travel as a part load within a shared move. Ask how the operator calculates the space or weight charged for your actual load and whether a minimum booking charge applies. Send the list with approximate sizes so the quote reflects what you are actually sending.
Office relocation
An office is quoted from its actual inventory, not a BHK size. That means desks, chairs, cabinets, files and boxed computers, listed with labels by department or workstation. Department assets are released to a named person at the other end. Your qualified IT team backs up data and disconnects networks, since a move does not come with zero downtime. Stock and machinery are not included automatically and are assessed separately.
Storage while the destination is not ready
If storage is needed, the arrangement is assessed first. It should name the operator and the location, the availability, how packages are taken in by ID with their visible condition, the access, the duration, the rate, the exit and the redelivery. Confirm the actual facility and terms before choosing storage.
Optional transit cover
Cover is an optional extra, separate from tax. If you choose it, read the actual insurer policy: the declared value, the exclusions, the deductible and how a loss is reported. It sits alongside the carrier's own liability and is not automatic full compensation. Do not assume a universal percentage applies.
