Morning office hours and the evening rush are the worst times to move a loaded truck across Silk Board. How we pack work-from-home setups, TVs and furniture

Lots of people in BTM work from home at least part of the week, so we see a lot of monitors, CPUs, standing desks and speakers. Newspaper and a cardboard box are not enough for these.

• Monitors and TVs – foam sheet first, then bubble wrap, corner guards, and a hard carton or wooden crate for bigger screens. If you still have the original box, keep it aside for us; check it is intact and suitable for that screen.
• Furniture – our carpenter opens beds, wardrobes and desks with proper tools. Screws and fittings go into a small labelled pouch kept with the matching item without tape touching the polished surface, so nothing goes missing.
• Kitchen and crockery – glass and plates are wrapped one by one and packed upright in strong boxes marked "fragile".

Label your boxes so unpacking is easy

By the time everything is taped, most boxes look the same. We write a number, the room name (Bedroom, Kitchen, Work Desk) and a short note of what's inside on every carton. Keep a matching list on your phone. Pack one "first night" box with chargers, a bedsheet, toothbrush and a few utensils, and keep your documents, jewellery and medicines with you – not in the truck. When the boxes arrive, count them against your list before they get spread around the house.

How a move with us works

1. Video call or home visit. Send a 2–3 minute WhatsApp video of your rooms, or ask for a visit. We check the items, the floor, the lift and how close the truck can park.
2. Written quote. You get a quote that lists packing, transport, labour, carpentry and any shuttle vehicle. Insurance is shown separately if you want it.
3. Packing day. The team reaches at the agreed time with boxes, tape, bubble wrap and tools. Furniture is opened and everything is packed and labelled.
4. Loading and transport. Use the agreed vehicle and secure items against movement. The route is planned to avoid peak-hour traffic where possible.
5. Unloading at the new house. Arrange the gate pass with the resident and security, puts lift padding where needed and places boxes in the right rooms.
6. Refitting and clean-up. Beds and wardrobes are fitted back, heavy appliances placed where you want them, and packing-material removal is completed where included.
