Packers and Movers Pune to Mumbai: Budget, Timing and Both-Building Planning
Pune to Mumbai is about 150 km by road, so the drive is short but a house move is not. As a planning guide, a 2 BHK moving budget runs ₹9,000–₹13,500 with standard packing and ₹11,500–₹16,000 with premium packing. A dedicated household delivery is planned at one to two days after dispatch, with packing before departure. Same-day works only when inventory, route and both buildings allow it.

Pune to Mumbai distance and route: what 150 km means for a move
Google Maps shows about 148 km between Pune and Mumbai on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway, with alternative routes of 151 km and 154 km. For planning, treat the distance as roughly 150 km. The actual figure for your move depends on the exact pick-up and drop addresses and on the route the truck is allowed to take.
A passenger car can cover the road in about three hours. A loaded household truck is a different job: packing, loading, travel, unloading and any lift waiting all sit on either side of the drive. Both cities are in Maharashtra, so this is an intercity move within the state, not an interstate one. That is why a short road distance still needs a proper plan for both buildings.
| Item | Planning figure | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Road distance | About 150 km | Maps shows 148 km on the Expressway, 151 km and 154 km on alternatives |
| Passenger drive | About 3 hours | Maps shows 2 h 56 min; a road reference, not a full move |
| Move type | Intercity within Maharashtra | Not interstate |
| Final route | Confirmed per job | Depends on exact addresses and the truck route |
What a Pune to Mumbai moving quote should cover
A moving quote is only useful if you can see what it includes. Before you compare two offers, ask for a written, inventory-based quote that states each of the following as included or charged separately: packing and materials, loading, transport, unloading, furniture dismantling and assembly, toll, tax, goods cover, waiting time, storage and any shuttle needed where the truck cannot reach the building.
Two quotes with the same headline number can cover very different work. If one assumes a lift at both ends and the other assumes three flights of stairs, they are not comparable until the access details match. We write the scope from your inventory and the access details you give us for both buildings, so the number you approve is the number that describes your move.
Things that change the price
- Volume and weight of the inventory, including heavy items such as wardrobes, sofas and appliances
- Floor, lift availability and how far the truck must stop from the door
- Standard or premium packing
- Shared load or a dedicated truck
- Waiting time caused by society slots or late building access
- Whether a vehicle is moving with the household goods
House shifting cost guide from Pune to Mumbai
These figures are household moving budget guides for Pune to Mumbai. The columns describe the packing standard, Standard Packing and Transit or Premium Double-Layer Packing. They are not packing-only fees, and they are not shared-load or dedicated-truck prices. Transport is already part of the guide, so do not add a second freight charge on top. The truck mode is decided in your written quote.
| Home size | Standard Packing and Transit | Premium Double-Layer Packing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 BHK | ₹6,000–₹9,500 | ₹8,000–₹11,500 |
| 2 BHK | ₹9,000–₹13,500 | ₹11,500–₹16,000 |
| 3 BHK | ₹13,000–₹18,500 | ₹16,000–₹22,000 |
| 4 BHK | ₹18,000–₹26,000 | ₹22,000–₹31,000 |
These are guides, not fixed rates. The final figure follows your inventory, access, packing choice, loading and unloading effort, transport arrangement, assembly, toll, tax, cover, waiting, storage and shuttle needs, each itemised in writing. Premium packing adds protection that is assessed for your goods. It is not automatic insurance, and cover is a separate question covered later on this page.
If you only have a few items, or you are moving an office rather than a home, the BHK table is not the right yardstick. Those moves are assessed on what is actually going, not on a number invented from a table.
Cash-flow worksheet: mover invoice, handling work and society deposit
Your moving-day budget can include payments beyond the mover’s invoice. Your building, the destination society or the landlord may ask for a separate moving-access security deposit, or may require chargeable handling work. These are not the same as the mover’s fee and should be recorded separately so nothing is counted twice or forgotten.
Here is a hypothetical example with round numbers. It is not an ALPM completed invoice, not a published deposit policy and not proof of any price.
| Line | Charged by | Type | Example amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agreed move invoice | Mover | Service fee | ₹12,500 |
| Society access deposit, if the society requires one | Society | Security deposit | ₹3,000 |
| Upfront funds needed: ₹12,500 + ₹3,000 | Mover and society, paid separately | Combined cash requirement | ₹15,500 |
| Net expense if the deposit is returned in full | Society refunds its deposit under agreed conditions | ₹15,500 less ₹3,000 | ₹12,500 |
The deposit is not a moving fee, so do not add it again under extras. It may also not come back in full. A deduction for damage, or a delay in the refund, can change the outcome, so budget for the upfront amount and track any refund separately. If a deposit is required, confirm it directly with the society and record it separately from the mover’s quote. A deposit is not always refundable, not always required, and the mover does not collect it unless the written quote says so.
Payment record for each building
| Record | Question to settle |
|---|---|
| Who charges and receives it? | Name the society, landlord, mover or other operator and the actual payee. |
| What is the payment for? | Distinguish a charge for work from a security deposit; record the amount and receipt. |
| Is it already included? | Mark it included in the mover’s total or payable separately, so it is counted once. |
| What happens to a deposit? | Record refund conditions, any deductions, the recipient, expected date and follow-up contact. |
Written questions for both societies or landlords
A Pune to Mumbai move involves two buildings with their own rules, and neither set is something we can assume. Ask each society, resident committee or landlord to give you the answers in writing, by message or email if there is no letter. Do not rely on a verbal yes from a gate guard on the day.
What to ask each building
- Written move-in or move-out requirements, if there are any
- Goods-lift booking, the slot you have been given and its start and end time
- The exact period in which loading or unloading is allowed on your date
- Gate and vehicle access: maximum vehicle size, where the truck may stop and any entry pass needed
- Floor and corridor protection that you or the mover must put in place
- Whether any fee or deposit is required, and who is the contact for it
Do not assume that one society’s rules apply to another, or that Mumbai buildings are all stricter or all easier than Pune ones. Some societies in Pune are tight on access and some in Mumbai are generous. The answer is the paper from your own two buildings. Share it with us before the booking is confirmed so the crew and truck can be planned around the slots you actually have.
Pune to Mumbai delivery time and same-day shifting
For a dedicated household truck, use one to two days after actual dispatch as a conservative planning guide. Packing and loading happen before departure. This is a planning guide, not a promise. A same-day move with a dedicated truck is possible only when four things line up: the inventory is small enough to pack and load in a reasonable time, the truck route and travel buffer are clear, and both societies allow loading and unloading in the same window. If those conditions do not fit, agree a revised receiving window before departure.
A shared load works differently. Arrival depends on dispatch, consolidation and any stops on the way, so ask for the expected delivery window in writing instead of assuming a date.
| Mode | Planning guide | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Road reference | About 3 hours by road | One-way drive only; not packing, loading or unloading |
| Household, dedicated truck | 1–2 days; same-day is conditional | Inventory, loading time, route and both society windows |
| Household, shared load | Window confirmed per booking | Dispatch, consolidation and stops |
| Car or bike | Assessed per carrier | Carrier availability and the handover calendar |
Any shared or dedicated calendar starts from actual dispatch. Packing and consolidation are counted separately, so a two-day shared load is not two days from your first phone call.
Same-day decisions in heavy rain or around Ganeshotsav
For a rainy-day move, check the actual truck approach and covered loading space at both buildings before keeping the same-day plan. Ask the coordinator to review current road and weather advisories, then compare the updated journey window with the Mumbai building’s lift cut-off. The short expressway distance alone cannot establish that unloading will finish in the slot.
If your move overlaps Ganeshotsav or an immersion procession, check the current traffic arrangements separately for the Pune loading entrance and the exact Mumbai-region destination. Confirm that the relevant gates, stopping points and lift slots are usable for your vehicle; do not assume one city’s advisory covers the other. Use the fallback receiver and rebooking process below if a slot changes, and record who approves any waiting charge. A society deposit remains separate from a charge for additional work, as in the cash-flow worksheet.
Destination sheet: Andheri, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Panvel
Mumbai is not one address. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority lists Greater Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Panvel as separate municipal corporations within the region. A move to Thane or Navi Mumbai is a different delivery from a move to central Mumbai, and the building rules are not uniform. We do not assume the same entry rules everywhere.
| Area | How to treat it | Details to give |
|---|---|---|
| Andheri East or West | Specific suburb of Greater Mumbai | Building, tower, gate, floor, lift or stairs |
| Other Mumbai suburbs | Own address, not central Mumbai | Same building details plus any narrow approach road |
| Thane | Regional endpoint with its own planning | Society, gate, floor and the permitted unloading period |
| Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar | Regional endpoints, not equivalent to central Mumbai | Sector or node, building, floor and access |
| Panvel | Regional endpoint | Society, gate and truck approach |
| Dadar or South Mumbai | Check the actual lane and building | Truck stopping point and carry distance |
Some lanes in older parts of Mumbai are narrow, but not every street in Dadar or South Mumbai is closed to trucks, so the answer depends on the actual building. On the Pune side, give the same detail for the pick-up: society, gate, tower, floor and lift or stairs, whether you are in Pune or in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
If a truck cannot get close, have the operator assess a safe stopping point, carrying distance and any smaller-vehicle shuttle before dispatch. Agree the work, handling responsibility and price rather than assuming a warehouse stop is available.
Goods-lift slot, fallback receiver, waiting and holding
A confirmed goods-lift slot is a booking for a time window in the building, not a guarantee that the truck arrives in that window. Traffic, loading time at the Pune end and building delays can all push arrival later. Before the truck leaves Pune, agree what happens if it misses the slot.
Agree these before departure
- A named fallback receiver at the destination who can accept the goods if you are not there
- A fallback slot, or the process for rebooking the lift with the building
- Waiting or holding terms, including how waiting time is charged
- Who is allowed to authorise a change of time, place or receiver, and how they confirm it
If the goods must be held, whether because the slot was missed or the new home is not ready, write down the holding arrangement in full: the location, who operates it, who has custody, item counts, the condition of the goods, the duration, the rate, access to the goods during the hold and how redelivery is arranged. We do not describe a holding place that is not in your written quote.
Car and bike transport from Pune to Mumbai
Vehicle transport is quoted separately from the household move. The table shows planning guides for a shared and an exclusive arrangement. An exclusive arrangement is an assessed vehicle arrangement, not a rush guarantee. The actual carrier availability, the vehicle model, whether it is an EV or non-running and the handover calendar are all confirmed separately.
| Vehicle | Shared arrangement | Exclusive arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Commuter bike | ₹2,500–₹4,000 | ₹4,500–₹6,000 |
| Premium bike | ₹3,500–₹5,500 | ₹6,000–₹8,000 |
| Hatchback | ₹6,000–₹8,500 | ₹9,500–₹12,000 |
| Sedan or SUV | ₹7,500–₹11,000 | ₹12,000–₹15,500 |
The vehicle carrier is separate from the household truck, and the two may not arrive on the same day. We do not promise a home and car arriving together on one date. Tell us the make and model, whether it is an EV or a non-running vehicle, so acceptance can be checked before booking. Follow the carrier’s preparation instructions for fuel level, keys and loose items instead of attempting mechanical work yourself. Note the condition and odometer reading at handover and again at delivery.
Household and Furniture Moving Services from Pune to Mumbai
Agree the work for the whole move: packing, loading, transport, unloading and room placement, with unpacking and assembly listed separately where required. A flat with a few appliances and a home with large wardrobes can need different space and labour even when both have two bedrooms.
Packing and furniture preparation
List glass panels, televisions, mattresses and large furniture during the survey. Specify any dismantling and the protection for individual fragile pieces, keeping fittings labelled with their furniture ID. Enhanced packing should describe actual additional work rather than simply a premium label.
Loading, unloading and placement
Use the agreed gate, parking position and goods-lift slot at each building. Tell the crew which room receives each item and which furniture needs assembly. Unpacking, clearing packing debris and appliance connections are different jobs, so confirm what is included before moving day.
Packing, furniture, appliances and items we do not carry
Agree how chairs will be protected and counted
Chairs have several exposed points: arms, legs, backs and the surface of the seat. The furniture in this photo makes it useful to discuss those parts individually rather than ask only whether the chairs will be wrapped.
Before a Pune to Mumbai move, tell the team about loose joints or delicate finishes. List each chair separately and agree which surfaces need padding and how the pieces will be positioned for transport. A covering alone does not explain the whole handling plan.
At delivery, check the matching set against the inventory. Look at its visible condition before the labels and protective material are removed.
Standard packing covers everyday household goods with the materials listed in your quote. Premium double-layer packing adds protection for fragile or high-value items, and what it covers is assessed for your inventory.
Furniture
Before loading, measure the packed width, depth and height of large pieces against the usable door width, the lift cabin size and load limit, and any stair turns at both ends. A wardrobe that fits through the Pune door can still fail at a tight Mumbai staircase. The crew checks whether the piece can be moved before loading starts, and tells you if it needs dismantling.
Appliances
- Keep the manuals handy; some appliances have specific transit instructions
- For a washing machine, fit the transit bolts if the manual calls for them, and remove them before first use at the new home
- Air-conditioner gas work, electrical connections, plumbing and IT or network equipment should be handled by qualified technicians at both ends
What stays out of the truck
- Fuel, LPG cylinders and fireworks are not carried
- Valuables, medicines and important documents stay with you
- Plants must be declared in advance so acceptance can be confirmed
Office moves and very small loads
Offices and very small loads do not fit the BHK table, so they are assessed from what is actually moving. A few boxes and a couple of pieces of furniture are priced differently from a full flat, and an office with desks, workstations and storage is a separate calculation. Send dimensions, counts and access details for an estimate that reflects the actual work.
For an office move
- List each asset with its physical ID tag, the accessory count, condition, who releases it and who receives it
- Plan for a qualified IT person to disconnect, pack and test servers, networking and workstations
- Expect some downtime; a zero-downtime move is not promised
If you are moving a student room or a few items between Pune and a Mumbai flat, send the item list and the two addresses and we will tell you how it would be moved and what the arrangement would cost.
How to Book and Prepare Your Pune to Mumbai Move
A quote built from details is more reliable than one built from a guess. The more of this you can share, the closer the first figure will be to the final one.
- Pick-up and drop addresses with society or building name, tower, gate, floor and lift or stairs
- An inventory list, with the packed size of any large furniture
- Your preferred date and how flexible you are
- Whether you want standard or premium packing
- Whether you want shared or dedicated truck terms
- Vehicle make, model and condition, if a car or bike is moving
- Whatever the two societies have given you in writing about slots, access and deposits
You can reach Agarwal Logistics Packers and Movers on +91 9467186002. The Pune office is listed at Office No. 18, Sector 24, near Ramdev Dhaba, Transport Nagar, Nigdi, Pune 411044. The registered office is at Old Bowenpally, Secunderabad. The written scope is built from your inventory and access details, and any requested change should be approved with an updated amount before the work is done.
Before paying and before loading
Confirm the advance, payment milestones, cancellation and rescheduling terms in writing. Keep the receipt and booking reference. Once both buildings have confirmed access, agree packing, expected dispatch, the delivery window and who may approve any waiting or holding charge.
At packing and delivery
Number cartons and individually listed furniture against one inventory. Record visible condition before loading and share the list with the Mumbai-side receiver. At delivery, reconcile package IDs and count, then inspect contents while unpacking. Note any missing or damaged item and follow the agreed reporting process.
Why Choose ALPM and How to Compare Moving Quotes
Whichever mover you choose, a few checks are worth doing for a Pune to Mumbai move.
What a good quote looks like
- It is itemised, with included and separate charges stated
- It is based on an inventory and on the access details of both buildings
- It names the packing standard and the truck mode
- It states the waiting, holding and rescheduling terms
- The name, phone and address on the quote match the business you spoke to
Cover and protection
Goods cover is optional and depends on the provider’s terms. Premium packing is protection assessed for your goods and is not automatic insurance. If you want cover, ask in writing for the provider, the sum covered, the excess, what is excluded and how a claim is made. Tax and any legal requirements are applied as stated in your written quote, and we do not give a fixed rule here. Read the exclusions, limits and claim terms before relying on the cover.
Keep the signed inventory, take photographs of valuable items before packing, and note the condition at delivery on the day. If anything is missing or damaged, report it in writing straight away while the crew and the paperwork are still available.
