Shared vehicle

On a shared vehicle your goods travel together with other customers' goods and use part of the vehicle's capacity. Shared can carry a full home if the capacity and dates fit, including a larger household with a flexible delivery window. It costs less. The trade-off is that dispatch waits until the load is consolidated and your goods may be delivered after other drops on the way, which is why the transit guide for shared is longer.

You may hear the term part load. It describes a portion of the vehicle’s capacity. Confirm separately whether the actual arrangement is shared or dedicated, and what dispatch window is agreed.

Dedicated vehicle

A dedicated vehicle carries only your goods. It suits a full family home, bulky furniture, or a fixed joining or school date. It costs more, and it gives you more control over the dispatch day because there is no consolidation wait. The goods spend several days on the road, so protection matters more than on a local move. Ask what the cartons, wrap, foam or board are, and whether cartons are labelled by destination room. Polished or lacquered wooden finishes need a different wrap from ordinary furniture, because some wraps mark or stick to a finish. Furniture: measure the fit at both ends before loading

A bed, wardrobe or sofa that fits out of a Hyderabad flat can still fail to enter a Kochi lift or stairwell. Before loading, check the width, height and depth of the whole packed piece, and of every separated panel, against the door opening, the lift cabin and the stair turn and landing at both ends. A smaller truck does not solve a stair that is too tight.

Appliances and technical work

Preparation and restart follow the manufacturer's manual for your model. A washing machine may need its transit bolts fitted, and a refrigerator is emptied and dried or defrosted as the manual directs. Ernakulam district has several separate municipalities, among them Aluva, Kalamassery, Maradu, Thrikkakara and Thrippunithura, alongside the Kochi corporation area. Thrikkakara, for example, is part of eastern Kochi and includes the Kakkanad, Infopark and Edachira side.
