Moving into a New Flat or Villa? Read This First

A key handover does not always mean the home is ready to receive your goods. Paint is still wet, the kitchen counter is not fitted, or the lift has not got its approval yet. If the truck arrives in such a situation, your goods either sit in the parking area or go into a room that is still dusty.

So before you fix your shifting date, please check these four things:

1. Is at least one bedroom clean, dry and ready to keep furniture?
2. Is the lift working, and has the society allowed shifting on that date?
3. Can the truck reach your block, or will the crew have to carry things from the main gate?
4. Will someone from your family be present at the new home to receive the goods?

If any of these is a "no", tell us early. We can shift your date, deliver only part of the goods first, or keep things in storage for some days. Confirm the available option and its handling or redelivery cost before loading.

Line up the dates before fixing pickup

Confirm the key-handover date, the first day rooms are actually usable and the last day you can stay in the old home. Then agree pickup and delivery windows, the receiver and a backup date. If finishing work is uncertain, tell the mover before the truck is loaded.

If only part of the home is ready

Identify clean, dry rooms and agree which cartons can be placed there temporarily. Label the bedroom and kitchen cartons you need first, and keep finishing areas clear. If the available rooms cannot take the load, agree a different slot, assessed partial delivery or confirmed storage. A backup receiver also needs keys, permission and a clear unloading path.

Storage and extra handling

Before relying on storage, confirm the location, availability, duration, rate, retrieval notice and redelivery cost. Keep the item count and condition photos when goods enter and leave. If a smaller local vehicle or extra transfer is needed, agree its stopping point, handling and charge once.

Packing Done Properly

Good packing is honestly half the job. Our crew uses multi-layer cartons, bubble wrap, foam sheets, stretch film, and thick blankets for furniture. Here is how we usually pack common items:

• Crockery and glassware: each piece wrapped separately, packed in small cartons with paper in between, marked "fragile, this side up".
• TV and monitors: original box if you still have it, otherwise bubble wrap with corner protection and a rigid cover.
• Sofa, dining table, wardrobe: stretch film and furniture blankets so polish and edges don't get scratched.
• Fridge and washing machine: follow your model manual for defrosting, drying and restarting the fridge, and for washing-machine transit bolts or restraints.

Full packing covers the agreed rooms; fragile-only packing can leave clothes and books to you. For owner-packed cartons, number each one, record the destination room and share the general contents and handling needs. Agree the acceptance terms and keep books in small, manageable cartons.

Dismantling and refitting

Furniture comes apart only where its design allows. Protect separated panels, keep fittings in a labelled bag and agree reassembly for each piece. Check the packed height, width and length through doors, the lift and stair turns at both ends. Fixed cabinetry, ACs, geysers and electrical work need suitable technicians and separate pricing.

Loading, unloading and room placement

Tell the team the floors, lift size, gate-to-door carry and any steps. Loading-only help for a goods vehicle you arrange needs its own scope and responsibilities. At delivery, room placement, opening cartons, arranging contents and clearing packing waste should each be included when wanted.

Check before closing the handover

Count packages and large items against the list and inspect their visible condition. Open fragile cartons promptly.
