Bike by train or truck? Compare the railway parcel service’s current station booking, packing and collection requirements with a truck quote that specifies pickup, packing and delivery points. Include both end trips and handling in your comparison; the lower line-haul price is not always the lower total.

Documents for vehicle transport: keep the requested RC, insurance, PUC and identity copies ready, and check any lender or registration requirements that apply to your situation. Follow the carrier’s fuel and battery instructions. Photograph existing marks, note the odometer and keys, and remove loose belongings before handover.

Picking Up from Delhi NCR – Small Things That Save Time

Most delays on moving day happen at the Delhi end, not on the highway. A few things help:

• In Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad societies, book the service lift and inform the RWA or maintenance office a day before. Some societies ask for a gate pass or NOC.
• In tight colonies like parts of Laxmi Nagar, Karol Bagh or Old Delhi, a big truck may not reach your gate. A smaller shuttle may be needed; agree the transfer point and any extra handling charge.
• Keep jewellery, cash, important papers and medicines with you. Don't pack them in the cartons.
• Prepare the refrigerator and washing machine according to their manuals, including transit bolts and restart instructions where applicable. Check current vehicle-entry eligibility as well as society timings.

Delivering in Varanasi – Galis, Ghats and Festival Days

This is where Varanasi is different from most cities. If your new home is in Sigra, Mahmoorganj, Shivpur, Pandeypur, Sarnath, Cantt or along the ring road, check the approach road, gate and actual standing space before assuming a large truck can reach the building. But in the old city – Chowk, Godowlia, Dashashwamedh, Bengali Tola, Assi and the lanes near the ghats – narrow lanes or access restrictions can prevent a large truck reaching the door.

For these areas, the main truck stops at the nearest point where it is allowed to stand, and goods may need a suitable smaller goods vehicle. The last stretch may require a measured hand-carry distance and additional labour. When you share your address, we tell you in advance how the last part will work, so there are no surprises.

Try to avoid these dates if you can:

• Dev Deepawali, Mahashivratri, Sawan Mondays and big snan days like Mauni Amavasya – temporary diversions, crowd controls or vehicle restrictions can change the approach to the ghats and Kashi Vishwanath area. Check the current arrangements for the moving date.
• Peak monsoon (roughly July to September) – the Ganga rises, access to low-lying or ghat-side locations may be affected, and unloading in the rain needs extra care.

Campus and cantonment addresses: if you are moving into BHU quarters, Banaras Locomotive Works colony, the Cantonment area or any gated campus, the vehicle may need entry permission at the gate. Check the lead time and arrange it before dispatch, or share the contact person with us.

BHU main campus or a different campus?

A BHU address needs the department, colony or hostel, gate and receiving contact. The university’s main campus is in Varanasi near Lanka, while its South Campus is at Barkachha in Mirzapur district. State which campus you mean before comparing a city-delivery price. For a student load, confirm what the room already provides before sending bulky furniture.

Which Way Does the Truck Go?

There are two common routes. The first uses the Yamuna Expressway to Agra and then the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, and goes on towards Varanasi from Lucknow. The second is the old GT Road (NH-19) through Kanpur and Prayagraj, entering Varanasi from the Mohansarai side. The driver picks the route depending on traffic, weather and where any other drops are. Either way, you get updates on call or WhatsApp while the truck is on the way.

Use about 800–850 km as an initial road-distance guide, not one exact figure for every corridor. Confirm which route the assigned vehicle will use and keep the delivery window separate from a passenger-car driving time.

Shared Truck or Dedicated Truck – Which One Should You Take?

Take a shared truck if you have a 1 BHK or less, you are not in a hurry, and you want to keep the cost down. Ask how cartons will be identified, separated and secured, and whether any transfer is planned.

Take a dedicated truck if you have a 2 BHK or more, you need more control over dispatch around a joining date, or you have costly furniture and don't want your things loaded and unloaded along with others. Confirm the assigned truck, any planned transfer and the receiving slot; dedicated transport still needs a realistic delivery window.

Packing, Household and Office Shifting to Banaras

For a full home, prepare a room-wise list of furniture, appliances and cartons before the survey. We plan protection by item: padded edges for furniture, dividers for crockery and suitable cushioning for televisions and fragile puja items. Keep screws and fittings labelled with the furniture they belong to.
