Things we cannot carry

Things to Sort Out at the Delhi End

Shifting out of a DDA flat in Dwarka is very different from shifting out of an old house in Old Rajinder Nagar or a gated society in Gurgaon. A few things that save time:

• RWA or society permission: Many societies in Dwarka, Noida and Gurgaon need a written gate pass and charge a small fee for the service lift. Confirm your own building’s requirement before the agreed loading date.
• Truck parking: In colonies with narrow lanes, the container may have to stand on the main road and goods are carried to it. Tell us if your lane is narrow so we bring extra labour.
• Stairs without lift: Common in builder floors in West and South Delhi. Heavy items need a handling assessment; dimensions, stairs and available equipment decide labour and cost.
• Final electricity and water bills: Get meter readings done so your landlord or buyer does not raise them later.

Delivery Inside Surat: Societies, Old City and Entry Timings

Newer areas like Vesu, Pal, Adajan, Althan, Citylight and Piplod are mostly high-rise societies with building-specific lift, parking and gate arrangements to confirm. Just book the service lift with your society office in advance, because many Surat societies allow shifting only within fixed hours.

The older parts of the city, such as Gopipura, Nanpura, Mahidharpura, Salabatpura and the lanes around Chowk Bazaar, are a different story. Some lanes may be unsuitable for a large container. In such cases the goods are shifted into a smaller vehicle like a Tata Ace at an agreed lawful transfer point, with suitable final handling and the number of trips assessed before dispatch.

Heavy vehicles also face entry restrictions inside Surat city during busy hours. Check current vehicle/route eligibility separately from the society’s unload slot. Agree any lawful holding, smaller transfer vehicle and charges before dispatch.

For a bike, compare current railway parcel acceptance, packaging, station handling and destination collection with the full road-carrier quote. Confirm the booking/handover point and responsibilities for either mode instead of assuming one is always cheaper or that every service includes doorstep handling.

Best Time of the Year to Shift from Delhi to Surat

October to March can simplify heat and rain planning, but northern winter fog or local weather can still affect the route. The only catch is that the weeks around Diwali and the wedding season get booked quickly, so plan two weeks in advance.

April to June is very hot along the Rajasthan stretch. Agree suitable protection for electronics and wooden furniture, but things like candles, cosmetics, medicines and chocolates should go with you in the car or train.

July to September is monsoon in Surat and south Gujarat, and the rain there can be heavy. We use extra plastic wrapping on mattresses, sofas and cartons and avoid unloading in open rain. If you have a choice of dates, keep a day of buffer during these months.

Also, month-end dates (25th to 5th) are the busiest because most rent agreements end then. Compare nearby dates for availability and total cost; a mid-month slot does not guarantee a lower rate.
