Why some published prices look lower

You will find much lower numbers online. Some are generic distance bands with a different scope. Some describe local shifts inside a single city, and many leave out packing, unloading or access charges. Before deciding a quote is cheaper, compare quotes line by line on the same inventory.

Shared load or dedicated vehicle

If your joining date or lease start is fixed, a dedicated vehicle gives you more control. If you can live out of a suitcase for an extra week, a shared load is often better value. For anything in between, ask for both options on the same inventory and compare the dates as carefully as the prices.

Furniture and glass

• Protect edges and corners first, since they take most knocks.
• Place a soft layer under stretch film so film and tape never touch polished or painted finishes.
• Assess glass tops, mirrors and framed pieces for support and the orientation they travel in; some need crates.
• Put screws and fittings in a labelled bag, secure it to the outer wrap, and record it on the carton list.

Fridge and washing machine

For a fridge, follow the maker’s instructions: defrost if required for the model, then drain, clean and dry it as instructed, transport it in the orientation the maker allows, and wait as advised before restarting. For a washing machine, drain it and let it dry. Fit transport locks or bolts if the maker requires them, and remove them before use. If something gets wet

In heavy rain at either end, pause carrying when a safe, dry route or suitable staging point is unavailable.
